Rates Hold Steady... So What Does It Mean for Property?
A little welcome news for homeowners and buyers this month, with the Reserve Bank deciding to keep the cash rate on hold at 4.35%.
After three rate rises earlier this year, the pause gives households some much-needed breathing room, particularly as the cost of everyday essentials continues to put pressure on budgets.
There are also some positive signs when it comes to inflation. Annual inflation eased to 3.8% in June, down from 4% in May. While we’re moving in the right direction, inflation is still sitting above the RBA’s preferred 2–3% target range, which means interest rates are likely to remain a key focus over the coming months.
For the property market, a steady cash rate can help bring a little more certainty for buyers, sellers and investors. And while national headlines are important, what’s happening locally can be a very different story.
