Happy Monday from Point Lonsdale!
Putting the final finishing touches on an amazing project and getting ready for handover! There's nothing quite like that Monday morning energy when you can see all the hard work coming together beautifully.
The coastal views aren't bad for a Monday office either! 🌊

Finishing off the week - and following last week’s spotlight on her brother - we’re keeping the appreciation in the Khan family.

Meet Sumayya …Freddie’s big sister and Hillbrook’s calm, collected silent assassin. With an engineering brain and razor-sharp estimation skills, she makes take-offs look effortless (and is rarely wrong).

She lets Freddie do the talking, only stepping in to put him back in his place …and yes, she’s forever looking after him and cleaning up his mess along the way.

Sumayya, your quiet leadership, precision, and steady presence make you an absolute weapon on our team. We’re lucky to have you!

Meet Freddie Khan …or as we call him, Optus 📶📱

Why Optus? Because he’s always saying YES. Yes to late nights. Yes to early mornings. Yes to things no sane person would say yes to. The man’s more connected than a 5G tower …even if it’s at his own expense.

Freddie’s been with Hillbrook’s for over a decade. He’s family. Loyal to the core. The kind of guy who’ll fight tooth and nail to keep both the client and the team happy …and then apologize for not doing more. 🙄

He started in the back room of our leaky old office - no heating, no ego - just a little desk, a big heart, and zero regard for proper desk etiquette. (Seriously😷)

Now he’s a registered builder, and we couldn’t be prouder. From backroom battler to certified site commander …Freddie’s journey is proof that hard work, grit, and borderline insanity really do pay off.

He’s the brother we love, the mate we roast, and the glue that keeps Hillbrook’s running… whether he’s juggling site chaos, client calls, or snacks he definitely didn’t clean up after.

Here’s to you, Freddie. For the laughs, the loyalty, and the endless “you up?” texts at 11:45pm.
Cheers to another hundred years of mayhem. Wouldn’t want to do it without you. 🥂👷‍♂️

Meet Lucky - Luca Furlan has been with Hillbrook since the very beginning – starting as a teenager more than 10 years ago, learning the ropes from the ground up as a carpenter.

Luca is loyal, funny, hard-working, and absolutely fearless when it comes to getting dirty on site. Jackhammer in hand or deep in the mud, he never backs down – and he absolutely hates standing around. 😂

But beyond the tools, Luca’s the kindest, gentlest soul at Hillbrook. A loyal family man, a mate to everyone, and the glue that connects all the bits nobody notices but everyone relies on.

Just don’t cross the line – there’s a switch… and let’s just say you might end up wearing a dyno bolt 😅

Luca, we appreciate you. For your strength, your honesty, your loyalty, and your years of service. Here’s to the next chapter 👊

And give his dog Tessa a pat from us 🐶

Meet Cam McLeod – our fearless Project Director at Hillbrook!
From town planning to construction, sales to leasing – Cam knows the property game inside and out. He is extremely passionate about rooming houses and solving the housing affordability crisis along solving developers problems.
You’ll usually find him pacing on the phone, practicing his golf swing (in spirit, at least 😄), making things happen for our clients, team, and stakeholders.
His energy, experience, and that trademark smile make him a cornerstone of Hillbrook’s culture.
Legend. Leader. Larrikin. That’s Cam. 👏🏽

Today we’re celebrating the incredible journey of Caleb Horne, our hardworking, skateboard-riding Project Manager at Hillbrook!
Now in his fourth year with us, Caleb’s growth has been nothing short of quantum. Starting out as a carpenter, he quickly rose through the ranks with his unstoppable work ethic, loyalty, and drive.
When we rolled out Procore (a seriously tough platform to master), Caleb didn’t just step up , he took full control for the whole team, doing the work of three people at once without hesitation. His leadership through that transition showed the grit and commitment that defines him.
What makes Caleb truly unique is his rare mix of hands-on, on-site construction experience combined with strong technical knowledge. It gives him a “superhuman” ability to manage projects with insight, precision, and heart.
And he’s just getting started - Caleb is priming himself for even bigger things as he continues to grow with us.
So if you’re ever in South Melbourne and you see someone skateboarding by wearing a Hillbrook t-shirt , don’t worry, that’s just Caleb!
We’re proud to have you, Carlski. Thanks for everything you bring to the team!

Hats off to Kyle Caulfield.
Since the heartbreaking passing of our beloved Ben Fletcher at the end of February, the Hillbrook family has carried heavy hearts. Ben left behind big boots to fill — but also left behind a legacy of leadership, mateship, and trust.
One of Ben’s early recommendations was his childhood mate, Kyle — someone he vouched for as a reliable carpenter and solid human. Kyle joined our crew nearly three years ago, and since then, he’s not only earned our respect but has continued to push forward in his career with purpose and heart.
In recent months, Kyle has stepped up into the role of Site Manager in Geelong & Bellarine region— a tough gig and a tougher time. But he did it with humility, courage, and a strong sense of responsibility. He’s picked up the mantle Ben left behind and is following his mentor’s example to a tee: organized, communicative, and always driving things forward.
At Hillbrook, we’re more than a team — we’re a loyal family. And in the most emotional of times, we’re proud to see one of our own rise. Well done, Kyle. You’ve done Ben proud — and all of us too.
