Regenerative farming has been around since the beginning of time—
it’s simply nature working as it was designed to.

Here on our farm, we follow the evidence-based principles recommended by RegenWA.
We focus on rebuilding soil carbon, encouraging biodiversity to return, and creating a landscape where every element of the ecosystem supports the next.

RegenWA, established by Perth NRM in 2017, has been guiding innovative WA farmers through regenerative land practices—farmer-led, science-supported, and grounded in real results.

And the truth is simple:
Fix the soil, and the soil fixes everything else.

We invite you to come and experience this for yourself—
walk the land, see the regeneration, and witness how nature responds when we listen.

Bees: More Than Honey – They Feed the World

Most people think of bees for their delicious honey… but these tiny workers are responsible for so much more.
Around one-third of the food we eat depends on bee pollination — fruits, veggies, nuts, seeds and so much of the colour on our plates exists because of them.
Protecting bees means protecting our food, our ecosystems, and our future.

When we bought the farm, one of the hives had been knocked over by the cows — boxes scattered everywhere. With no idea what to do, I started ringing around Boyup Brook and Donnybrook trying to find someone who could help. Eventually, someone gave me Brian’s number.

Brian had retired and taken up beekeeping as a hobby… which quickly turned into a full-time passion caring for hives across the region. He doesn’t usually take on tiny hives like ours — they’re just as much work but produce very little honey — but he liked our story. And I promised him scones. 😄

He came out, had a look, and he’s been helping us ever since.
He’s sourced second-hand boxes and frames to rebuild the hive, introduced a new queen so we now have two thriving hives, and even extracted our very first batch of honey.

When Brian visits, he’s not just our beekeeper — he’s our friend.
We spoil him with fresh scones and coffee, and in return he teaches us the magic and complexity of bees. There is so much to learn, and we’re grateful every time.

If you’d love to stay somewhere where nature is respected, bees are cherished, and country hospitality still exists… come and visit us at Wilga Farm Stay.

Tucked away between Donnybrook and Boyup Brook lies a tiny town most people skip past…
But those who find it, never forget it.

Once a bustling timber hub on the Donnybrook–Boyup Brook railway line, Wilga’s story began in the early 1900s — when rails and forests powered its early years. The old mill, cottages, and church still whisper tales of hardworking hands and simpler times.

And now, this hidden gem invites you to step into the peace and charm of country life at Wilga Farm Stay .

Wake to birdsong, breathe in the scent of the bush, and rediscover the beauty of slowing down.

Whether you’re after a quiet weekend escape, a family getaway, or a touch of rural adventure — Wilga welcomes you.

Why are we burying cow horns filled with manure under a full moon?

Under the soft glow of a lantern, we’re preparing Horn Manure 500 — one of the oldest biodynamic preparations used to restore balance, vitality, and life to the soil.

This ancient practice involves packing cow manure into cow horns and burying them beneath the earth during the full moon, when the land draws in energy and life forces. Over several months, this mixture transforms into what’s often called liquid gold — a powerful natural fertilizer that nourishes the soil and supports vibrant plant and microbial life.

It’s a beautiful reminder that farming, at its heart, is a partnership with nature — one that works in harmony with the rhythms of the moon, the earth, and the seasons.

We feel so grateful to Tim and Jacqueline, who are once again gifting this sacred process to our farm.
It’s incredibly rare to find people who still practice this with such dedication — and we’re so lucky to receive their wisdom and care for the second year in a row.

This is how we give back to the land that feeds us.

One of the wettest winters ever at Wilga Farm Stay! 🌧️

After a long, wet, and frosty winter — with plenty of misty mornings — spring is finally here!

We’ve recorded 656mm of rainfall so far this year, which is 160mm more than this time last year. Lance recently visited and was very impressed with how well the water is being held back along the contour. There’s so much water that Brett has even been out stand-up paddle boarding!

All that rain, followed by some warmer days, means the paddocks are flourishing — and the animals are looking fat and happy with all the fresh feed.

The accommodation has been buzzing too! The Cottage continues to be a favourite spot, especially over the school holidays. Guests love waking up to golden mornings, birdsong, and a delicious farm breakfast.

🌼 Fun fact: The wildflowers are absolutely breathtaking this time of year — the perfect backdrop for your next countryside escape.

Epic rainfall. Glorious payoff.
Spring is calling — come stay a while at Wilga Farm.
