Homelessness has been tapping me on the shoulder for a long time — especially among the men and women who spent their lives serving the rest of us.
On any given night in this country, tens of thousands of veterans are without stable housing. And many more are hidden in plain sight — sleeping in cars, rotating couches, surviving without the one thing that allows a human being to think clearly: safety.
I’ve seen that reality up close. Strong, capable people trained to endure anything — except instability without purpose.
Operation Merit begins here. Not with charity. With dignity.
A secure home is not a reward. It is a foundation. Stability allows breathing. Breathing allows thinking. Thinking allows rebuilding.
This isn’t about rescue. It’s about restoring footing.
If you served and you’re struggling, you matter. You are not forgotten.
Operation Merit: homelessness toward stability — one safe home at a time.
