MARKET UPDATE 06/04/2022

During the Reserve Bank of Australia's April meeting, it was announced that interest rates will be kept at their historic low of 0.1% ahead of the upcoming election. In general, low borrowing rates encourage potential house buyers to enter the market which is aiding the high demand in Australia's property market.

The latest data shows that 1.2 properties are being sold for every new property that comes onto the market for sale in most regions of Australia. Despite the large number of properties that have come onto the market, the supply of available properties cannot keep up with demand.

The value of Australian homes increased by 2.4 percent in the first quarter of this year. In comparison, values were climbing at more than double the current rate a year ago, at 5.8% in the three months leading up to March 2021.
