Walking Together for Reconciliation 🖤💛❤️

The Works Corrimal was proud to volunteer at the recent Reconciliation Walk in Bellambi, where around 3,000 students, community members and organisations came together to recognise, celebrate and learn from First Nations culture.

Led by Aunty Shas, the walk was a powerful demonstration of connection, respect and community. The day concluded at Bellambi Public School with inspiring speeches, cultural performances and a traditional Smoking Ceremony, providing an opportunity to reflect on the importance of reconciliation and the rich cultural heritage of the Illawarra region.

We are grateful to have been part of such a meaningful event and to stand alongside the community in recognising and celebrating First Nations peoples, cultures and traditions.

A special connection to The Works 🤍

Recently, we had the pleasure of welcoming Wendy Smith into our office after she reached out to share her memories of working at the original Corrimal Cokeworks back in the 1960s.

From her time as a receptionist to the strong sense of community she experienced on site, Wendy’s stories offered a meaningful glimpse into the rich history that has shaped this place.

It was incredibly special to take her on a tour of the site and hear her reflections on how it’s evolving, while still honouring its past.

As The Works Corrimal continues to take shape, stories like Wendy’s remind us of the legacy we’re building on and the future community still to come.
