A philosophy we share at Ligar Park. We believe Thoroughbreds contribute more than just refinement. They bring work ethic, athleticism, versatility and a proven performance pedigree that continues to shape modern Warmblood breeding.

The Hanoverian studbook values the refining influence of select Thoroughbred and Arabian bloodlines — and under specific criteria, these horses can be accepted into the studbook.
🔹 Thoroughbreds (xx) mares registered with the ASB can be classified on the Annual tour or via video, and with qualifying scores enter the Hanoverian Studbook
🔹 Thoroughbred stallions can also be accepted - they must be licensed and performance tested through sport or particular racing achievements
🔹 Purebred Arabians (ox) and Anglo-Arabians (x) mares can also qualify for the studbook
🔹 Horses must be from approved bloodlines and undergo classification to ensure they can contribute to the Hanoverian breed standards
📌 Stallions must meet rigorous standards including pedigree, conformation, movement, and performance to be considered for Hanoverian licensing.
📌 Thoroughbred mares approved into the studbook can have Hanoverian eligible foals if mated to a Hanoverian Licensed or Approved stallion
These bloodlines are historically used to bring refinement, type, and stamina into the breed — and remain part of strategic, responsible breeding today. Thoroughbreds in particular have a strong influence for eventing and showjumping breeders.
🧬 Fun fact: Some of the most successful Hanoverian sport horses in history trace back to influential Thoroughbred sires!
