🐍 Snake Safety Reminder 🐍
With warmer weather and good rainfall, snakes are becoming more active across our region. Whether you're out in the paddock, checking stock, inspecting crops, or enjoying the outdoors, it's important to know what to do if someone is bitten.
✅ Keep the person still and lying down
✅ Apply a pressure bandage firmly over the bite site
✅ Bandage the entire limb from fingers/toes upwards
✅ Apply a splint to keep the limb immobilised
✅ Mark the bite location and note the time of the bite
❌ Do not wash, cut, or suck the bite site
❌ Do not allow the person to walk or move around
Having a snake bite kit on hand and knowing how to use it could make all the difference in an emergency.
Stay alert, wear appropriate protective clothing when working in long grass or crops, and take extra care around sheds, fences, and water points.
