How the prices of things have changed over 50 years! In the early 1970's, Ron and Joan McDougall ran the 'Oceanus' on day trips and fishing trips out of Emu Park. The average wage then was $52 per week! A day trip to Keppel was $2.50 and a full day deep sea fishing was $3.50. You could hire the whole boat for a day for $80 for up to 60 people. (Thanks Martin Li for sending this newspaper cutting from back then.)
