We'd like to introduce you to Mick 🍍 or maybe that's Mr. Cranny if he coached you school-boy cricket or basketball back in the '80-90's (!)
Mick (or Dad as some of us like to call him) started pineapple farming with his family as a little tucker on Taranganba Hill, before walking to primary school at St Ursula's College Yeppoon or secondary at St Brendan's College - tide times at Ross Creek were important :)
Their farm grew smooth pineapples that were sun-ripened with views of Great Keppel Island before being sent to Golden Circle in Brisbane. Dad finished school in Grade 9 (my kids cannot believe this!) and has been farming ever since. From Taranganba to Inverness Yeppoon, to Hidden Valley - hello The Pineapple Patch!
With 7 kids, Dad was always busy with sport (much to his delight) and music lessons (not so sure about the delight in this 😂). He loved a bit of basketball and was a gun on the courts with his brothers, the local priests, and a few other Yeppoon locals. Now he's working on his golf 🙏
Dad always had a dog, which rode in the back of the ute, and kept us kids safe from snakes. He also dabbled in cattle - mainly to keep the grass down on the home block - but also to teach us kids farm skills, like milking 🤦♀️
Today you'll find Dad at Yeppoon Health and Fitness Centre 24/7 of the morning with Roxi taking him through his paces, or up at The Pineapple Patch with the crews.
Yesterday, we celebrated another lap around the sun for Dad - so if you get the chance, wish him a - he'd be surprised and chuffed
