Tasmania’s west coast won’t make you work hard for this view.
Pull over on the Lyell Highway, 5km east of Queenstown, and follow the 2km return track to Horsetail Falls. This seasonal waterfall pours over cliffs at the foot of Mount Owen – a twisting ribbon of water at its best in winter, spring and after rain.
Not up for the walk? While the track gets you closer, the falls are visible from the carpark when flow is good.

⚠️ Supervise children near flowing waters and unprotected track edges when you're visiting Tasmania's waterfalls. Beware of flowing water and slippery surfaces and make sure you have sturdy footwear. Stick to the formed walking tracks and viewing platforms and stay behind barriers.
