Farid Rasulov - Threads Breathing Life into Tales: Karabakh Carpets.
QGallery is proud to announce the opening of the exhibition "Threads Breathing Life into Tales: Karabakh Carpets." The showcase presents Farid Rasulov’s contemporary and conceptual interpretation of Azerbaijan’s carpet-weaving heritage. This project is realized with the esteemed support of Azerkhalcha OJSC and the International Bank of Azerbaijan (ABB).
Farid Rasulov’s creative process thrives at the intersection of intuition and observation, where everyday reality is transformed into an object of profound analytical perception. Originally trained in medicine at the Azerbaijan State Medical University, the artist’s shift toward visual arts marked a definitive and principled pivot in his career. He rapidly secured a unique standing in the contemporary art world, gaining international acclaim while representing Azerbaijan at the 53rd Venice Biennale in 2009.
The exhibition features an exclusive collection developed in collaboration with Azerkhalcha OJSC. The project reinterprets the traditions of Karabakh carpet weaving through a modern lens, evolving ornamental heritage into independent visual narratives. Crafted from a blend of wool and silk using innovative 3D techniques, these works forge a new aesthetic language through color, rhythm, and form.
Alongside the carpets, the exposition includes paintings that maintain a conceptual dialogue with the collection. This interplay between diverse artistic mediums allows the viewer to trace the dynamic evolution of the artist’s vision and immerse themselves in the project’s overarching visual philosophy.
Through this exhibition, QGallery invites visitors to perceive tradition not as an immutable relic, but as a constantly renewing and evolving creative journey.
