চেক রিপাবলিক সরকারের প্রাণিসম্পদ বিভাগের এক গবেষণায় দেখা গেছে জিংক স্বল্পতায় গরুর দৃষ্টিশক্তি কমে যায়,,এমনকি অন্ধ হয়ে যায় এবং অবয়ব বিকৃত হয়ে যায় এবং গরুর শরীরে প্রোটিন এবং এনার্জি মেটাবলুজম বাধাগ্রস্থ হয়। যার ফলে গরুর ওজন কমে যায়। একই গবেষণায় আরো দেখা যায় জিংক গরুর প্রজনন শক্তির উপর প্রভাব বিস্তার করে এবং দুধ উৎপাদন বৃদ্ধিতে সাহায্য করে।
