We are pleased to share the successful completion of the household listing exercise for the World Bank’s Mode Effects and Climate Adaptation Study, conducted in collaboration with World Bank.

Over the course of this operation, our dedicated field team of 36 members covered more than 60 Primary Sampling Units across four districts—Sirajganj, Satkhira, Dhaka, and Sunamganj. Originally planned as a 15-day census activity for participant recruitment, the exercise was strategically extended in urban areas to account for potential attrition in upcoming survey rounds.

Using digital mapping tools to accurately identify enumeration boundaries, our teams conducted a comprehensive listing of 6,000+ households. From this listing frame, approximately 1,500 participants will be randomly selected for the main quantitative survey phases.

The entire process was efficiently managed using the Survey Solutions platform, ensuring high-quality data collection, real-time monitoring, and seamless coordination between field and central teams. The listing exercise started on 26 March 2026 and ended on 13 April 2026

This milestone reflects the strength of DATA’s field operations and its continued commitment to delivering rigorous, large-scale survey solutions in partnership with global institutions.

We are pleased to share the successful completion of a qualitative research project in collaboration with the World Bank .
The survey name is "Bangladesh Survey Mode Effects and Climate Adaptation Methodological Study".

The study has two components : Survey Mode Effects and Climate Adaptation. The qualitative component of the study will comprise four types of interviews : Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), two types of Cognitive Interviews (Mode Effects & Climate Adaptation), Mental Model Interviews (MMIs).

Each interview types serves a distinct purpose and covers different themes. In particular, Mental Model Interview will explore how households and individuals perceive and think about climate risk - especially flood risk. Focus Group Discussions will be used to understand how individuals perceive different interview modes - specifically face-to-face versus phone interviews. Cognitive Interviews are used to assess the adequacy and clarity of survey questions and to refine the questions as needed as preparation to a quantitative round. The cognitive interviews will cover both the questions designed to disentangle survey mode effects and those related to climate risk perceptions, impacts and adaptation which will later be incorporated into the quantitative survey.

The training commenced on 18 January 2026. After pilot testing the qualitative questionnaires in rural and urban contexts in Dhaka on the 24th and the 28th of January, the main fieldwork was set in motion in the first week of February. The main qualitative field study was conducted in Satkhira, Sirajganj, Sunamganj and Dhaka; successfully concluding this round on 8 February, 2026.

✨ TMRI 2026 Survey – Successfully Completed ✨

DATA is proud to announce the successful completion of the TMRI 2026 Follow-up Survey, marking the conclusion of an intensive and highly coordinated field operation.

Following extensive training and CAPI preparation, our field operations officially began on 2 December 2025 across Kurigram and Rangpur. Over the course of approximately one and a half months, our teams conducted a large-scale, multi-topic survey while maintaining strict adherence to established research protocols and quality standards.

A dedicated team of 75 field officials, including enumerators, supervisors, and monitors, was deployed across five upazilas, smoothly transitioning into full-scale ex*****on. Through strong coordination and commitment, the team successfully reached 2,500 households across 250 communities, achieving one of the key operational milestones of TMRI 2026.

📊 Scope of the Survey

TMRI 2026 was designed as a comprehensive, multi-dimensional survey incorporating:

From the first day of deployment, male and female enumerators conducted interviews professionally and sensitively within their assigned areas. Special attention was given to Identification and Household Roster modules to ensure accurate household mapping and data consistency across survey rounds.

Supervisors and monitors played a critical role in maintaining survey quality through daily observation routines, spot-checks, structured feedback sessions, and real-time problem solving. Their leadership ensured that every module was implemented exactly as designed.

TMRI 2026 was not only a survey — it was a collaborative learning experience. Post-survey reflection sessions with field teams captured valuable operational insights, strengthening our approach to future large-scale research initiatives.

DATA is pleased to share an ex*****on update from the field under TMRI-2026, following the completion of our intensive training and CAPI preparation sessions. Since 2 December, 2025 our field operation has been running actively in Kurigram and Rangpur, and the follow-up survey will continue for approximately 1.5 months with full adherence to the protocols established during training.

A total of 75 team field officials have been deployed to the assigned locations (five upazilas)—the team has now transitioned smoothly into full-scale ex*****on.

From the first day of deployment, male and female enumerators have been conducting interviews professionally within their targeted areas, completing the assigned quantitative modules with accuracy and care. The survey includes the household questionnaires for male, female, and adolescents, and each module is being administered exactly as designed maintaining checks emphasized during training. The Identification and Household Roster components are being handled with particular attention, ensuring every household member is listed properly before proceeding into the respective questionnaires, and that the data structure remains consistent across cases.

Enumerators are confidently navigating the CAPI system module-by-module, while supervisors provide. Daily supervision mechanisms are in place to confirm that field procedures match the standard operating protocols practiced in training, and that any issues are resolved immediately through guidance and correction. The supervisors are also in charge of conducting community surveys with local community experts.
Supervisors and monitors are maintaining daily observation and monitoring routines, supporting enumerators with spot-checks, review discussions, and real-time feedback to safeguard the overall reliability of the follow-up survey.

The team is working with strong enthusiasm, professionalism, and coordination. We are on track to reach 2000+ follow up households, and complete 250 communities. We remain committed to maintaining high-quality survey standards throughout the TMRI-2026 operation and will continue to share progress updates as we reach the conclusion of TMRI 2026 survey.

DATA is pleased to share a comprehensive update on the completion of our intensive enumerator training program for the TMRI 2026 – 12-Year Follow-Up Survey. Over the last month, our team conducted one of the most extensive and structured training cycles in DATA’s history—spanning 28 days, involving 85 enumerators.

The training began with combined male–female sessions covering foundational modules such on household identification and formation, along with an overview of the project’s background dating back to TMRI’s inception in 2012.

Recognizing the depth and complexity of the questionnaires, male and female enumerators were later separated to focus on modules specific to their respective household questionnaires. During this period, the male team covered modules only in the male questionnaire while the female team completed modules specific to the female questionnaire.

The team transitioned to CAPI-based training, following detailed paper explanations to build mastery of the questionnaire flow. This hybrid approach was aimed to strengthen both conceptual understanding and technical precision. The early days also included trial assessments focused on the household roster to identify common challenges and prepare enumerators for formal ranking assessments.

There were days dedicated to structured peer-to-peer mock practices, where enumerators acted both as interviewers and respondents using the full CAPI system. Their delivery skills were assessed to prepare them for later evaluations. The following days were used to complete all common modules and introduce the Adolescent Questionnaire, including a detailed orientation on cognitive testing procedures.

A major milestone came when enumerators administered cognitive tests on 42 adolescents, followed by analytical feedback sessions. These exercises continued with even greater intensity later in the training. On Day 18, DATA set a new internal record by bringing in 81 adolescents for full-scale cognitive test standardization. This ensured strict adherence to SOPs and improved consistency across interviewers.

Anthropometry was a major focus throughout the training. Daily practice sessions led to the selection of Gold Standard enumerators. All team members were required to match measurements within 0.4 cm accuracy. This was reinforced again during correction and refresher exercises.

The last phase of training focused on detailed feedback from pretests, CAPI follow-through, refresher modules, supervisor/monitor assignments, logistics, equipment checks, and field protocol briefings.

On 30 November 2025, the full field team departed for their designated sites. Supervisors have already connected with local authorities, and DATA’s core monitoring team is on-site to oversee early operations.

This marks the successful transition from the training phase to full-scale field implementation for TMRI 2026. We are proud of our team’s dedication, professionalism, and resilience throughout this process.

Today DATA completed their 7th day of training for the 12 year follow-up survey: TMRI 2026. We started on the 28th of October. We have 85 field interviewers as participants for the enumerators’ training.

We are conducting weekly assessments to rank these 85 field officers. Till today we have conducted 2 assessments.

The Training started with combined male and female sessions for the first two days. There were brief short sessions on the general purpose of this survey and background of TMRI (starting from 2012) conducted by Zihad Bhai.

Identification Module and Household Roster needs to be completed by each enumerator; hence it was scheduled in the joint training sessions for male and female both. Even though modules on anthropometric measurements are only in the female questionnaire, it has to be implemented as a pair for each household. So both male and female enumerators need to be present during Anthropometric Training sessions. We are conducting practice Anthropometric Measurements every day for select enumerators on a rolling basis. We also have a practice and standardization sessions particularly scheduled for anthropometric measurement with mothers and 0-18 year old children.

On the 3rd day of training male and female enumerators were sent for separate training sessions. This will continue till the 9th day of training.

On the 5th day we started with CAPI training. Up until then the training sessions were covered in hardcopy (paper format) for enumerators understanding of the questionnaire. Day 5 and Day 6 were scheduled for a complete CAPI follow through of the entire questionnaire so far. This acts as a questionnaire recap as well. From the 6th day onwards the questionnaire is being explained on paper during the first half of the day and it will end with a follow-through on CAPI, where the trainer demonstrates how to complete the CAPI survey module by module.

Today we are continuing with separate training sessions for male and female enumerators. The day ended with a CAPI review of the questionnaire material covered today.

One of DATA’s key factors in maintaining data quality is their team members’ deep understanding of the project.

Before every project the Survey Implementation and Monitoring team assigned to the project spend multiple sessions learning, editing and updating the questionnaire. We discuss past survey strategies and develop ideas to improve our monitoring techniques and ensure higher data quality.

DATA is gearing up for large survey in the northern parts of Bangladesh. This will be a follow up survey to one of DATA’s past surveys. The project encompasses a male and female household survey, a community survey and an adolescent survey.

Recently, DATA organised an awareness session titled "Sexual Harassment in Workplace"

Maksura Khatun presented the session on 15 September 2025 at 12.05pm. The duration was about 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Key topics discussed during the session included :

* What does it mean by sexual harassment
* Types of sexual harassment and which behaviour are considered as sexual harassment
* What is the percentage of sexual harassment in workplace and what are the laws regarding sexual harassment in Bangladesh.

The program also featured an interactive question-and-answer session during which participants raised important queries and shared their perspective. This open discussion enhanced understanding and awareness of respectful workplace behavior.

Through this initiative, DATA reaffirmed its commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful working environment for all employees.

We are delighted to announce that DATA has reached and secured an agreement with World Bank. This is DATA’s second World Bank Contract in 2 consecutive years. World Bank is one of DATA’s oldest and most frequented Clients.

This is DATA’s 2nd method survey contract with World Bank just one year after the implementation of BICS. All survey planning activities are set to start from September. This is a multi-dimensional survey with FGDS, cognitive interviews and quantitative data collection.

It will be an 8 month survey implementation program. This is the same team that lead BICS in Bangladesh. This method survey by World Bank to analyze data collection processes and develop a a standardized and effecient methodology of survey implememtation.
