!!The Conscience of Politicians!!
The recent actions of the BNP exemplify the opportunistic nature of our politicians. Why is Sheikh Hasina's departure or ascension to power equated with independence?
Ordinary citizens have endured oppression, exploitation, and torture across various sectors. There has been no freedom in the judicial process and no right to free speech. Corruption has been rampant, violent politics prevalent, and both the education and healthcare systems have deteriorated.
Media outlets have been disconnected from the public, and the cost of living has soared. Students in schools, colleges, and universities have faced oppression by ruling party affiliates, and women have suffered abuse and r**e in some areas. The youth have been driven towards drug addiction. Numerous other repressions by the ruling party go unmentioned.
This is the reason it is equated with Independence 05-Aug-24.
During these trying times, our brave students rose up to reform the country and overthrow a dictatorial government. Yet, the BNP's recent meeting has revealed their true intentions. While students work to cleanse the nation and ensure security, old politicians are fixated on their ambitions. Where students advocate for legal reforms, politicians hint at retaliation. In this war where the blood of the martyrs has not dried yet, the politicians are busy in implementing their agenda.
It's doubtful they (Politicians) ever truly cared for the nation's welfare, focusing instead on their own needs.
We demand no elections until the country's laws are reformed. We reject an interim government or politicians that disregards student demands and rushes into elections. We refuse to hand the country back to self-serving politicians. No elections should occur without comprehensive reforms to the education and healthcare systems, national security, and business environment. By collectively voicing and promoting these demands, change is possible. One word: "reform." No elections until full reform.
