Answer:
Structural design is the process of planning and calculating the strength, stability, and safety of a structure so that it can safely carry all loads during its service life.
2️⃣ What are the main loads considered in structural design?
Answer:
Main loads used in structural design are:
Dead Load – Self weight of structure
Live Load – Moving loads like people, furniture, vehicles
Wind Load – Force of wind acting on structure
Earthquake Load – Seismic force during earthquake
Snow Load – Load due to snow (in cold regions)
3️⃣ What is dead load?
Answer:
Dead load is the permanent weight of the structure, such as beams, columns, slabs, walls, and finishes.
4️⃣ What is live load?
Answer:
Live load is the temporary or movable load acting on a structure, such as people, vehicles, furniture, and equipment.
5️⃣ What is factor of safety (FOS)?
Answer:
Factor of Safety is the ratio between the ultimate strength and the allowable stress used to ensure structural safety.
Formula:
FOS = Ultimate Load / Safe Load
6️⃣ What is bending moment?
Answer:
Bending moment is the internal moment that causes a beam to bend when loads act on it.

এটি আমার তোলা চাঁদের সবচেয়ে ডিটেইল্ড ছবির মধ্যে একটি। এটি এক ক্লিকে তোলা কোনো সাধারণ ছবি নয়। চাঁদের পৃষ্ঠের সূক্ষ্ম বৈশিষ্ট্যগুলো ধারণ করার জন্য আমি একটি শক্তিশালী ৮" ব্যাসের টেলিস্কোপ দিয়ে চাঁদকে ৯৪ অংশে ধারণ করি। এক একটি অংশের জন্য হাই-স্পিড ক্যামেরা দিয়ে সেকেন্ডে ৯০–১০০টি করে মোট ৩০০০টি ফ্রেম নেওয়া হয়। ৯৪টি প্যানেলের জন্য নেওয়া হয় প্রায় ২৮৩,০০০ ফ্রেম। শুধু র ডেটার সাইজ ছিল ৫০০ গিগাবাইটের বেশি। তারপর প্রতিটি প্যানেলের ফ্রেমগুলো একত্র করা হয়, আর তারপর সব আলাদা প্যানেল জোড়া দিয়ে চূড়ান্ত ছবিটি পাওয়া যায়। আমি চেষ্টা করেছি সহজভাবে বোঝাতে, কিন্তু প্রক্রিয়াটা আসলে বেশ জটিল।

চূড়ান্ত ছবিটি এতই বড় যে চাঁদের পৃষ্ঠের মাত্র কয়েক কিলোমিটার আকারের বৈশিষ্ট্যগুলোও পরিষ্কার দেখা যায়। না, এই ছবিতে আমেরিকার পতাকা দেখা যায় না, কারণ সেগুলো মাত্র কয়েক মিটার আকারের। এত ছোট জিনিস দেখতে পৃথিবীর আকারের টেলিস্কোপ লাগে। যদিও LRO স্যাটেলাইটে সেগুলো পরিষ্কার ধরা পড়েছে।

এই ছবিটি আসলে কম্পিউটার বা মোবাইলের স্ক্রিনে দেখে এর আসল মর্ম উপলব্ধি করা সম্ভব নয়। তাই আমি এটির বড় পোস্টার রিলিজ করেছি, যেখানে আপনি খুঁটিয়ে খুঁটিয়ে চাঁদের বিভিন্ন অংশ দেখতে পারবেন। আপনি চাইলে এটি পৃথিবীর যে কোনো জায়গা থেকে সংগ্রহ করতে পারবেন, তবে করতে হলে মার্চের ১৫ তারিখের ভেতরে করতে হবে। লিঙ্ক কমেন্টে আছে।

১০ বছর আগে শহীদ ওসমান হাদির লেখা বই পড়েই আমি ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভর্তি পরীক্ষায় অংশ নিয়েছিলাম। অথচ এতদিন জানতামই না—বিখ্যাত সেই বইয়ের লেখক আমাদের প্রিয় ওসমান হাদি নিজেই।

আমাদের সময়ে ঢাবির ভর্তি পরীক্ষার্থী অথচ সাইফুর’স প্রকাশনীর ‘চান্স প্লাস’ বইয়ের নাম শোনেনি—এমন মানুষ খুঁজে পাওয়া কঠিন। অবিশ্বাস্য হলেও সত্য, এই বইটি তিনি লিখেছিলেন ঢাবির প্রথম বর্ষের ছাত্র থাকতেই। বইটি থেকে পাওয়া বিপুল রয়ালিটি দিয়ে তিনি তার বোনের জন্য ঢাকার কাছাকাছি এলাকায় জমিও কিনেছিলেন।

শুধু লেখক হিসেবেই নয়—সাইফুর’সে যেসব শিক্ষক সবচেয়ে জনপ্রিয় ছিলেন, শহীদ ওসমান হাদি (রহ.) ছিলেন তাঁদের অন্যতম। জ্ঞান, মেধা আর দায়বদ্ধতার এক অপূর্ব সমন্বয় ছিলেন তিনি।

আহা! আমরা কী এক অমূল্য রত্ন হারালাম… 😭
