As part of our Sustainability Academy, some colleagues visited Rotor DC this week. Rotor is a Brussels-based cooperative and one of the region's most inspiring players in circular economy and material reuse. Founded in 2016, this company specialises in the dismantling, processing and resale of reclaimed building materials — from ceramic tiles and lighting equipment to urban wood, furniture and hardware. Their work is a powerful reminder that the most sustainable material is often the one that already exists.
The visit gave our teams a hands-on understanding of the full reuse value chain:
🔹 Salvage planning in complex buildings
🔹 Restoration and transformation of reclaimed materials
🔹 Cleaning, documentation and preparation for re-installation
🔹 The environmental and economic case for choosing reuse over new
At Cofinimmo, circular thinking isn't just a concept — it's something we want to embed across our real estate projects, from design to end of life. A big thank you to the Rotor DC team and Michaël Ghyoot for the warm welcome and the inspiring tour of their warehouse. 🙏
