We at Houses2Homes Ltd, have had a significant increase in enquiries about investment in Bulgaria, The lifestyle here, and many other things pertaining to relocating here, one of the most frequently asked questions is with regard to health care.
We’ve been here 21 years now, and have had some experience of it, on occasion bad, but mostly good, remembering that we arrived in Bulgaria in May 2005 and by August the same year, Angie was spending 5 days a week, in a hospital in Sofia, for 12 months…it was emotional!
So, here is a description of our latest medical adventure.
We have an annual medical with our doctor, around this time every year, as a precursor to this, we visit Ramus laboratories (Private) in Dryanovo (11 km away) from our village and pay for full spectrum blood and Urine tests.
Angie has the “Well woman package” plus extra tests for her Thyroid condition, and I have the “Well man package” which includes a PSA test.
On this occasion we took Friends/Clients of ours (Who have recently re located from Spain) with us, so they could get their tests done also, as we were shortly about to register them with a doctor, having completed their immigration.
We arrived at 08.00 hrs in the morning and all of us, had all tests completed, and in our cars, and on our way home before 09.00 hrs, the cost for Mine & Angie’s tests was €104.00.
Our test results were available online at 15.00 hrs the same day.
On Sunday evening I contacted our doctor on Facebook Messenger, (Attaching our blood test documentation etc) requesting an appointment for our medicals, she booked us in for Thursday 5th February at 12.00 hrs (Yesterday) 5 days later, a day to suit us.
We arrived on time and were shown in, we had a very quick discussion, and immediately Angie was examined, including blood pressure and ECG, Angie’s back was examined, and we were immediately given referrals.
Our doctor physically took Angie, by her hand to see the Neurologist, and the back specialist, who conducted a further examination.
She referred Angie for an MRI scan (At another hospital) Angie then had a Mammogram, and a further blood test and urine sample.
We proceeded to the second hospital, and presented the referral, she was given an MRI scan immediately (With the results ready for collection, this morning at 10.00 hrs)
This whole process took 2 hrs and 36 minutes, (Including prescriptions collection at the pharmacy, parking was available and free, at both hospitals.
The cost for everything was €4.08.
During the same medical, we discussed my request to have a prostate examination done, our doctor, insisted that there was absolutely no need, as I had no “Markers” in this or any previous blood tests of there being any indication of a problem.
I informed her, it was in my head, and I'd like to have peace of mind, she understood this, and as such she is referring me for a scan next week.
Just an informative post, based on our experience.
