A Motswana lady, Lesedi Molapisi has been sentenced to the death penalty in a narcotics case filled over drug smuggling in Bangadesh.

Additional Metropolitan Session Judge,Dhaka Md Aminul Islam passed the sentence on Monday.

Molapisi, was arrested at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in January 2022, after being found in possession of over 3.145kg of he**in.
She arrived at the airport on a flight of Qatar Airways from South Africa via Doha.

Meanwhile, President Mokgweetsi Masisi has said that the country will do everything legally possible to try and save the young Motswana.

The president addressing the media this afternoon shared that he is sorry and wishes it had not come to this. He pledged to facilitate an appeal, in a last-ditch effort to save her, through Amnesty International.
