What a month May was!
As we hit the halfway mark of 2026, reflection helps us remember that our hard work and effort are never in vain. May was probably my most productive month yet filled with travel, academic wins, networking, and continuous learning. Here are a few highlights:

Letlole La Rona Limited (LLR) Independent NED Board Member Appointment
Being appointed to the LLR Board has been humbling, exciting, and packed with corporate governance learning. To strengthen my board competencies, I enrolled in the WIMBIZ NG WIMBoard (Women in Board) Programme which is already off to a great start.

BIDPA 2nd Transformation Seminar
I moderated the BIDPA-Econsult seminar on “Natural Resources and the Middle-Income Trap: Lessons for Botswana’s Second Transformation.” Insightful, professionally debated discussions on moving from diamond reliance to a diversified economy. East Africa’s AfRES
I attended the African Real Estate Society Organization Conference in Ethiopia, in collaboration with Ethiopian Real Estate Developers Association (EREDA) made possible by The Mawazo Institute. A fun excursion in Addis Ababa, now a leader in African real estate, backed by IMF’s 9.2% projected GDP growth for Ethiopia, wrapped up a great conference.

My coauthors and I published “Social Capital Networks and Socioeconomic Mobility in Postgraduate Co-Living Spaces” in The Journal of Real Estate Practice and Education (JREPE). The journey was long, but our patience and tenacity saw us through.

These achievements took months of effort, patience and diligent work. With a solid 2026 roadmap and supportive mentors, I hope sharing this inspires you to persist in your goals. Keep at it until God makes it happen.

My recent trip to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to attend the East Africa African Real Estate Society, Ethiopian Real Estate Developers Association (EREDA) conference, and the 2026 Addis-Africa Real Estate Expo exceeded my expectations.

Ethiopia's booming real estate development practices are certainly ones other African nations can benchmark. The insights shared during the Ethiopian Real Estate Developers Association (EREDA) panel session, under the theme 'Investment Platform and Regulatory Reform', aligned perfectly with the abstract I submitted, titled 'Regulating Rental Housing Markets in Africa: Lessons from Ethiopia's Rent Control Policy for Botswana'.

Of course, we also had some much-needed fun time with loads of dancing at the farewell dinner.

Thank you, The Mawazo Institute, for funding my full participation. It was truly a memorable and informative experience.
