The Bank of Canada reduced its key interest rate by 25 basis points this morning and hinted at the possibility of more significant cuts if the economy weakens further in the coming months.
This third consecutive rate cut, anticipated by economists, brings the central bank’s benchmark rate to 4.25 percent. Since the easing cycle began in June, the policy rate has decreased by a total of 75 basis points.
