It’s the moments when we don’t agree.
The decisions we second-guess.
The unexpected costs.
The stress of trying to get everything right.
The moments when we wonder if we’re actually going to make it through the process without losing our minds. 😂

But somewhere along the way, you realize…

We’re not just building a house. We’re building a life.

And maybe we won’t get everything right.
We’ll make mistakes. We’ll change our minds. We’ll have hard conversations. We’ll learn what matters and what doesn’t.

But hopefully, years from now, we’ll look around at the home we built and realize that all those little imperfect moments were part of the story.

Because the dream was never really about having the perfect home.

The other night, my husband Dylan and I were talking about a hike we recently did to Chester Lake…

It was beautiful, relatively easy, and somehow… we’d lived here for years and never done it.

And it got me thinking:
If we consider ourselves pretty adventurous and we’re still discovering places like this, what are we missing?
Because I swear, getting outside and doing more of the things that make you feel alive changes your whole quality of life.

Dylan calls it “adventure maxing.” 😂

Basically: being intentional about finding more adventure, more fun, and making the most of where you are.

And honestly? I’m obsessed with the idea.

Because Calgary is an incredible place to do exactly that, and I think there are so many people who either live here and want to experience more of it, or are considering making the move and wondering, “What could my life actually look like here?”

So that’s what we’re going to do.

Adventure max. More fun. Make the most of what we’ve got.

Silly me feeling a little weird about swearing… but honestly, it’s so damn true. 😂

Life is way too short not to live your best life, and even better, to cheer on the people around you while they go after theirs too.

Maybe she wanted a fresh start. Maybe she wanted to feel like herself again. Maybe she was craving mountains, adventure, community, or simply a life that felt a little more like hers.

And I think that’s what I’ve been trying to capture all along.

Lately, it’s been harder to post Calgary the way I normally do. Because it feels like everything can be turned into a list now: “10 reasons to move to Calgary,” “5 things you need to know,” “why Calgary is the best city in Canada.”
But a woman’s or anyone’s decision to move here is so much more than that.

It’s the story behind the decision:

The version of her who packed up her life.�The version of her who was scared but went anyway.�The version of her who didn’t know exactly what she was looking for, only that she wanted something different.

Maybe you’ve been following me for a while, or maybe you’re new here, but these videos have always been personal diaries for me.

Growing up, I loved making little documentaries so I could look back and remember not just where I was, but who I was when I was there.

And that’s still why I film.

Because anyone can recreate a video. Anyone can copy the words. Anyone can tell you why Calgary is amazing.
But no one can recreate what it felt like to be you in that moment….

You’re allowed to start over.

You’re allowed to choose a life that doesn’t look like the one you thought you were supposed to have.

And if you’re the woman standing at the edge of that decision right now… I hope you know there’s a whole version of you waiting on the other side. 🤍

In 2021 our family made Koocanusa the spot where we would escape to spend time with each other and those close to us.

We are so grateful for this community and especially how close it is to Calgary, Alberta (3.5 hours).

If you are looking for a spot to build your dream cabin or home, AND spend time with loved ones this is it 🌊☀️

Why Koocanusa Village feels like summer the way it used to be…

Koocanusa Village

1) It’s only 3.5 hours from Calgary. The short commute means less time staring out the windshield, more time making memories and relaxing at the lake.

2) It’s a private community with a real sense of community. No fences between yards means your neighbours actually say hi and you’ll often find yourselves competing in yard games. People get to know each other around here and we all just want to have fun and unwind.

3) The marina store has all the essentials... and Foothills Ice Cream. Because nothing tastes better than an ice cream after spending all day in the sun.

4) The private marina and boat launch make lake days easy. No battling crowded launches or waiting forever. Just hop in the boat and get on the water.

5) No boat? No problem. Crystal Lake is a beautiful man-made lake with a sandy beach and dock that’s perfect for swimming, floating.

6) When you’re ready for dry land, there’s still plenty to do. Pickleball matches that somehow become fiercely competitive, ATV trails that seem to go on forever, and enough adventures to keep everyone entertained.

7) And then there’s the WATER. That unreal turquoise blue that looks like it belongs on a postcard, perfect for surfing, tubing, wakeboarding, paddleboarding, or simply floating with nowhere to be. Don’t forget those golden sunsets.

One of my mentors once told me something I’ll never forget: In life, there are glass balls and rubber balls.

The rubber balls? You can drop them and they’ll bounce back. The glass balls… are not something you just get back once you’ve lost it.

Health is one of those glass balls.
