Mother Nature is amazing. One minute we’re sitting outside enjoying the sunshine, and the next minute the fog rolls in and changes the whole vibe. But it’s still so beautiful. And that’s New Brunswick that we can see across the water. Then Dory decided to grab one of the firewood logs and begin chewing. I can’t believe I got a picture of her with bark on her tongue 👅🤣🤣

I am a little overdue for an update so here you go. We made it to Cheticamp but had to change plans on the fly when Ontario’s nasty weather reached Cape Breton. We enjoyed the first few days and look forward to planning another trip. Instead of Battery Park we spent some time at Dollar Lake and the rest of the time in Lantz with Owen and Jenny. This week we’re at beautiful Blomidon Provincial Park, and it has quickly moved to the top 10 on my list of favourite campgrounds. The campsites are awesome, the trails are challenging and beautiful and the beach…well, we can’t pass up an opportunity to walk on the ocean floor at low tide! Dory has made fast friends with park staff, too.

Well, just like that it’s the wnd of August. We had an amazing time exploring Kouchibouguac in NB and have added it to our favourites list. We just finished a fun two weeks at Cavendish in PEI. Lots of breweries, bakeries and beaches! It’s nice to be close enough for Owen and Jenny to keep visiting us. And we got to celebrate Owen passing his CPA exams! We managed to fit in a Ceilidh in beautiful Stanley Bridge. Tomorrow we’re off to Cape Breton!!

While enjoying our time on PEI, I decided to dedicate some time to one of my favourite authors. I have read every single book that Shani Mootoo has written, and Starry Starry Night is her most recent. I have been trying to find the words to describe it…something more than I loved it! All of Shani’s stories tell a unique story about extraordinary people and places. I was deeply invested in the main character of this new story and only wish there was more to read! We arrived at Forillon National Park in Quebec this past Sunday, in the pouring rain. It was quite the drive with sharp turns and 15% grade on some hills. The past three days have been full of adventures. We always like to find beaches for Dory , and we mixed that in with some awesome hikes. The comfort stations and visitors stations are some of the best we’ve seen. Gaspe has been well worth the drive!

The last two weeks have been a blur. We camped at Wesley Clover campground in Ottawa last week, which was very handy. Then we attended our daughter’s wedding at Mill St Brew Pub in downtown Ottawa. We dodged the rain all day, though many of us had to deal with wet suits and dresses and frizzy hair! Then we needed (actually all the guests needed) a police es**rt to get into the venue since there was an Ironman happening at the same time as the wedding. I forgot to take any photos so I had to borrow other people’s pics to make this post. What a beautiful day!! There will be more family photos coming!! Then we headed straight to Parks of the St Lawrence to camp this week. What a wonderful area. The bike trails here are fantastic and we rode to Morrisburg for lunch on Tuesday and then to Long Sault yesterday for lunch and a brewery. And yes, it’s incredibly hot and humid here and Dory has to sleep under the cool trailer. Congratulations to Katie Bond and 🐉 Kaddeem for such a beautiful ceremony. You are both so special and we are proud to officially welcome Kaddeem and his family to be a part of our family.

We have been to Killbear a number of times: years ago with the kids in a tent, then a couple of times in the smaller trailer, and now in the 5th wheel. We managed to book two of the few pull through sites, and Eric did an amazing job manouvering in between the many trees! We are a 30 second walk to the water, and which makes Dory a very happy dog. We went for a kayak today and all Dory cared about was being close to her bff, Heather. Then when we were sitting relaxing for a bit, we saw a chipmunk 🐿️ coming closer. We told Dory and she looked up in the tree. The pictures explain what happened next.

Well our stay at Arrowhead started with many many many nasty bug bites and has ended with humidity in the 40’s. We are thankful for access to lakes to cool Dory down. Shout out to Jennifer Osborne Yates for introducing me to strawberry lemonade ginger ale..:it pairs nicely with gin, too 🍹We wandered around downtown Huntsville earlier today and Dory met a very playful pup in the water. The heat sent us back to our air conditioned trailer where we are watching soccer and baseball. Now we’re watching out for an angry storm. Keep an eye on your furry friends and keep them cool!!

We feel very lucky to be able to snag a waterfront site at Presqu'ile Provincial Park . Being able to walk down a few steps from our trailer into the water is what Dory loves the most! She also learned that bumble bees 🐝 are friendly!
