Love recycling paper into seed pots! We have been using the pot maker from .herbs for years. It’s great for small batches of seeds ( we have done up to 300 this way )

Today’s planting includes sage, thyme and oregano !!

Seed starting on a budget is so easy!

We prefer to be as plastic free as possible here and these are some of the ways we do it!

For home, small scale quantities:
Cardboard egg cartons or
Make your own from newspaper or
Dollar store peat moss type pots

For larger scale we often use reusable metal pots, save money in the long run and less than a dollar each !

You will need a waterproof tray to put under your baby plants , we choose to go with inexpensive reusable plastic trays, under $4 each.

So if you opt to recycle, your entire seed production, per tray, can cost you under $10 easily, including seeds !

Now compare that to your weekly grocery bill , the savings is clear. Remember each seed has the potential to produce more than one fruit or vegetable depending on the species. Plus you can’t beat the quality and satisfaction you get from eating something you’ve grown yourself!
