New drone rules for all of Canada become effective tomorrow.

Overall this is good for the public and the aviation industry.
In Canada a drone is now referred to as a Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS).
To operate an RPAS in Canada, at a minimum you will need a basic pilot certificate and your drone needs to be registered with Transport Canada. To operate near airports and in controlled airspace you will need your Advanced RPAS Pilot certificate which consists of an exam and a flight test. In addition the drone needs to meet certain requirements.
