Well some time has pasted now and I imagine everyone has heard, Wilke and Company is now officially closed for business. It’s taken me a little bit of time to make this post, I’m sure it will be long winded but hey, it’s the last post of our Wilke and Company page so I’m gonna make it a good one 💁🏼♀️😁
Len and Lynda have decided to retire and I couldn’t be more happy for my parents. 45 amazing years in the real estate business side by side running a business, raising a family and contributing to the community.
Mom and Dad started their very own little real estate company called Sun Country Realty many moons ago. My mother had no reception experience and my Dad well, let just say he has always had the gift of selling😉. There was a learning curve but they quickly figured things out and with a lot of grit, hard work and perseverance they built a successful business. All 3 of us girls were taught earlier on in our years to earn our money, each of us working in the office on weekends to help out. When one sister would get into trouble they were “fired” and that meant that the other sister was working that weekend 😂😂..and so forth. I admit, looking back, I know it wasn’t easy raising 3 very strong minded girls. God bless my parents for their patience 🙏🏼😂. Back in the day before technology took over we had 4 phones in our house (private line, local biz line, “in watts” and an “out watts” line (I guess I’m kind of dating myself if you don’t know what those last 2 lines are🤔)…at times 3 phones would ring at once with the bells ringing outside…we would run into the house from wherever we were and well… let’s just say there were phone cords flying everywhere. Still to this day I have caught myself answering the phone saying “a sun country Realty, how may I help you” 😂
I’m proud of my parents and all that they have accomplished throughout the years of running an office. I recognize and acknowledge all the sacrifices they made to be successful. There were alot of well loved cars and motorcycles sold b/c times were lean and there were mouths to be fed. My parents weren’t handed anything in life, everything they have was earned by the sweat of the brow, vision, determination… and a s**t load of grit. 👊🏼 They taught us by doing, not by telling and that is the best way to learn…by example. 🙏🏼🫶🏼
I have learnt a great deal from them both and I’m thankful for the almost 10 years of working side by side with them. Thank you mom and dad for all that you have taught me, the support and guidance you have given me throughout my entire life and yes, even for allowing me to stumble and find my own way. All are gifts I couldn’t be more thankful for.
When packing up the office and cleaning up I was surprised to see SO many awards and accolades that my father never ever shared with us. I mean…A LOT! 😳 Yes, to say my father is a humble man is an understatement.
I’m posting a pic of one of the awards down below. I know he will be upset with me for doing so but what is he gonna do about it..fire me? 😂 He will get over it 😉🤷🏼♀️
I can’t post this post without acknowledging our amazing gatekeeper for 20 years!
Jann Perry, you have been the glue that has held out office together. If anyone can herd squirrels, your the woman for the job! 😂 Your loyalty, dedication and friendship is unmeasurable. I know that working in a family business isn’t the easiest of tasks, you are simply amazing.
I know your going to miss searching for random Kijiji ads…”yeah, can you look for that 2010 fox trot rover camper with the blue truck I saw last week on Kijiji” 😂 and reading messages off blocks of wood and napkins. Don’t worry, You can’t excape us that easily…I’m sure you will still receive the odd phone call from dad 😂..After all, if anyone can find it, we know you can 😉
I will miss all the taste testing, recipe swapping, the latest new gadget “you just have to try”. Your a wealth of knowledge and I really enjoyed working beside you and our chats. I consider you family and I look forward to continuing our friendship throughout many more years ahead. Your an amazing woman and we were so blessed to have you as part of our team. 💕
Ok. I have rambled on for quite some time now and congratulations if you made it this far! LoL
In closing, I would really like to thank our home town, our community of Beauséjour snd surrounding areas, for supporting our family business for so many wonderful years. Without all of you, we couldn’t have made it this far.
You are appreciated and we are so very thankful for all of you.
I just want to make it clear…Len and Lynda have retired…Pam and myself sadly, are far from that step in life! 😂 We have joined the Property Exchange Group out of Oakbank but we are still very much so continuing to sell in our community. Retirement won’t be for awhile yet! 😅
Thank you everyone for being there for us and supporting us. Being part of a wonderful small town is truly a blessing ♥️
