Good information on the different types of furnace filters! Whatever the type of filter, making sure it is changed regularly and clean will increase the longevity of your furnace.

A Guide to Choosing & Changing Furnace Air Filters

Furnace air filters are important in keeping your air clean and fresh throughout the home.

Shape is always set by the size of the housing installed with the furnace. The Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value (MERV) rating is the filtration quality of the filter. The higher a MERV rating, the higher the number of particles the filter traps.

Pick the filtration quality which is best for your family. This can be especially important for family members with allergies.

MERV 1 – 4: Useful for filtering dust, pollen and carpet fibers.

MERV 5 – 8: Captures animal dander, mould spores and dust mites.

MERV 9 – 12: Highly effective filters capable of filtering auto emissions and lead dust.

MERV 13- 16: Can remove smoke, microscopic allergens and even viruses and bacteria from indoor air.

Change your filters regularly, it’s recommended every 3 months or even sooner if pets live in the home.

Got a high efficiency furnace? Check it regularly for any signs of moisture or leaks!

What you're looking at is the inside of a "high efficiency" furnace that needs to be replaced because a small leak has become a big problem!

Check out the puddle. Believe it or not, it was still operating despite it overflowing with water

High efficiency furnaces create liquid that needs to be diverted away from the furnace.

I commonly see small leaks that, if corrected, should be a simple fix. However if leaks continue, they can rust out the furnace and damage the electronic components!

Regular maintenance on any condensing high efficiency furnaces is a must!

We have had a great year providing top quality HVAC services to Kingston. In appreciation to the city we love, we are going to provide one lucky household with a free new high efficient Rheem furnace, fully installed for Christmas.

We are asking the public to submit nominations of the most deserving person. We are looking for someone who is an amazing human, has an old clunker furnace, and otherwise wouldn't be able to afford a new one.
