Calling all first time homebuyers!☎️

The Government of Canada released some big new this week! Bill C-4, the Making Life More Affordable for Canadians Act, received Royal Assent March 12, 2026.

Who does this affect?
🏡 First Time Home Buyers in Canada!

What does this mean?
💸 The federal government is eliminating the Goods and Services Tax (GST) on new homes priced up to $1 million and reducing the GST on new homes priced between $1 million and $1.5 million. This could save buyers up to $50,000.

When did this bill come into effect?
📑The rebate generally applies to agreements of purchase and sale signed on or after March 20, 2025, and before 2031.

How do I go about getting this rebate?
🧾With the legislation now receiving Royal Assent, the Canada Revenue Agency can begin processing rebate claims.

This initiative is aimed at helping more young people and families enter the housing market and turn homeownership into a reality.
