I had the privilege of spending this morning volunteering with our local real estate board, CLAR, at Gleaners Food Bank in Belleville as part of the REALTORS® Care initiative.

I have always supported Gleaners through donations, but I had never been there in person or understood what goes into running the operation. I was truly impressed by the volunteers, the organization, discipline and care behind everything they do, from sorting and packaging food to creating ingredient labels for bulk items being divided into smaller packages. The entire facility runs like a well-oiled machine.

Life can change quickly for any of us. Knowing we have such a strong system in our community to support people when they need it most is something we should all be grateful for.

Thank you to CLAR for coordinating this experience and to the management and volunteers at Gleaners for everything you do.

We were told they currently need more cans of tuna. The next time you’re shopping, you may want to consider picking up an extra can or two and dropping them off. You can also reach out to me—I would be happy to coordinate a pickup.

Small gestures can make a big difference. This is what community is all about. ❤️
