The Region has announced $8 million in funding for two affordable housing projects in Brock and Oshawa.

ACA Housing Corporation will receive $750,000 to build 10 units of affordable rental housing at 82 River St., Sunderland located in the Township of Brock.

Athol Green Co-operative Homes Incorporated is receiving $7.25 million to construct 96 affordable rental units in downtown Oshawa. These units are part of a 23-storey, 274-unit rental apartment building.

The City of Peterborough has completed all seven initiatives under its Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) Action Plan and has received a second funding installment of $2.67 million from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).

The City has now received a total of approximately $5.3 million through the federal program, which supports municipalities in creating more opportunities for housing by improving planning processes, removing barriers to development and creating healthy, walkable communities.

CLAR CEO Wendy Giroux, President Christine Riley, OREA President-Elect & CLAR Member Meredith Kennedy, and OREA Provincial Director for Northeastern Ontario & CLAR Member Don McColl attended the Real Estate Council of Ontario (RECO) Collaboration Summit in Ottawa.

The event brought together Association leadership from across Ontario to hear from the Honourable Stephen Crawford, Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement. The summit also featured a panel with Jonathan Vandall of BC Financial Services Authority, Warren Martinson of the Real Estate Council of Alberta, and Pascal Michaud of OACIQ.

It was a valuable opportunity to connect with industry leaders, exchange perspectives, and take part in important conversations shaping the future of real estate regulation.
