Bank of Canada just raised interest rates by .25%.. The current key interest rate is at 4.75%! Prime lending rate will now be 6.95% They are speculating there will not be anymore interest rate hikes for the rest of the year! Furthermore, perhaps a rate cut in 2024..

So people have been wondering, what the heck does that mean Jason when it comes down to dollars and cents when bank of Canada raises interest rate by 50 basis points? How does that affect me?? Well the numbers are, for every 400,000$ owed on your mortgage you are paying approximately $100 more a month! That’s right approx 100$ extra per month in interest on your variable mortgage..

The Bank of Canada today increased its target for the overnight rate to 4¼%, with the Bank Rate at 4½% and the deposit rate at 4¼%.
