Women are often asked to be twice as prepared, twice as patient, and twice as proven just to be considered equal.
At work, a man is called confident for speaking up, but the woman in the same scenario is told she is aggressive.
A man who helps with dinner is praised as an amazing partner, but a woman who cooks every night is simply doing what’s expected.
A father changes a diaper and gets applause, while the mother raises the entire household and it’s called normal.
A man applies for a job when he meets 60% of the requirements, and sadly, most the woman waits until she meets nearly all of them.
The bar is different. And we all know it.
That’s why days like International Women’s Day still matter. Not for celebration alone, but to push for equal access to justice, fair systems, and the end of discriminatory laws and expectations that still shape women’s lives across work, home, and society.
This year’s theme, Give to Gain, reminds us that progress happens when we give what we can:
• knowledge
• opportunity
• mentorship
• resources
• support
When women are supported and empowered, everyone gains.
So today, give something that moves equality forward. What will you give?
