To condo or not to condo . . . That is the question ! Part 2! Coming soon ! Let’s talk condos !
A year later from my last post advocating and educating on condo ownership and we are continuing our journey and love for condos !
I am super impressed with Brantford’s newest condo located at 34 Norman Street. Built in partnership with Vicano and Leschuk have done an absolutely gorgeous job! The main shared entrances and amenities are gorgeous!! The lobby is beautiful and welcoming! Your guests will come visit with envy. Lockers/storage, a FITNESS area, and a Speakeasy do share interior amenities! Another great building The Lofts in the lovely HOLMEDALE AREA!
The transition from home to condo can come with some adjustments and saying goodbye to old familiar spaces but . . . That being said it can be freeing and a lot LESS WORRY! So happy to celebrate this transition and change with this fabulous lady who has be a condo feel like HOME 🏡 and is over the moon HAPPY, comfortable and feeling foot loose and fancy free! Throw away that rake, shovel and lawn mower and enjoy the extra bonus free time visiting with your friends in your NEW BRIGHT SPACIOUS CONDO !
To condo or not to condo . . . that is the question 🙋🏼♀️ 💡
Topic for discussion 👍🏻 Let’s deep dive into this one together:
Condo living and condo fees 🤔
Are Condo Fees Bad? Let’s take a look 👀 together 🏡👍🏻
Many homebuyers look at condo fees as an additional expense, compared to owning a house. However, before assuming these fees are a drain, it's important to look at what they cover. Condo fees can cover a variety of expenses including a contribution toward the building's upkeep and maintenance, but they may also include heat, water, sewer, garbage collection, and even electricity and cable TV in some cases. Consider how much these line items would cost if you lived in a home. Also, consider that, in a condo, you don't have to mow the lawn or shovel snow yourself, which ultimately means you will have to chip in to hire someone.
As we helped our Mom make the decision to condo or not to condo we kept a log of expenses and upkeep for her house 🏡
For example:
Grass lawn service cut/trim grass
$30 x 42 weeks = $1,300
Spring Clean up $150-$300
Fall Clean up $150
Winter Shovelling
(Depends on the winter 🥶)
Last winter 3 x $30=$90
Fertilizer, aeration = $100
Benefits of Owning a Condo
* You'll Have Access to Amenities.
* There's a Welcoming Community.
* Great Location.
* Less Worry About Maintenance.
* They're Safe and Secure.
* A More Affordable Option.
* Less maintenance for new home owners and older owners.
A condominium, or condo, is a sellable property that is similar to an apartment. Homebuyers may opt for a condo over a single-family home for several reasons. A condominium can provide a less-expensive way to enter the housing market. Or, a condo can be a low-maintenance downsizing option for seniors. However, misconceptions about condominium ownership often keep potential buyers from considering them as an option. Hope to dispel some of the most common misconceptions about condo living.
Stu and I have really enjoyed learning more about condos with our purchase and ownership in the 85 Morrell St LOFT condo building. It was really neat to watch those come to life.
My very first condo purchase was 20 years ago 111 Grey Street and I loved that condo! My first mortgage and lived there and loved it!
Now we watch the new LANDING condominium build take shape and come to life. Very pleased to be a part of that development and excited to see those units in 2023.
Happy to have a conversation about condo ownership of your curious 🧐 wanting to weigh the pros and see if it’s a fit for you or a loved one.
