I I’ve been a little quiet on here—the work hasn’t slowed down, but posting definitely has.

The framing on this custom-shaped deck is officially complete. I took some extra time to work through the angles and carry a clean border detail around the perimeter, and it was well worth it. Details like these take more planning, but they’re what make the finished build feel intentional.

Decking goes down next, and that’s when this transformation will really start coming together. 🔨

Built to age beautifully.

Deck framing is almost wrapped up 👌 Got the main layout squared, the angled section framed in, and everything is finally taking shape. Back at it today to finish locking it all together and fine-tune the level of a few deck blocks now that everything is held square—then it’s time for deck boards.

Fine-tuned the pergola, got all the deck blocks laid out, and the framing is coming together. Next up: level everything off and start laying deck boards 🔨

With gas lines preventing us from safely pouring footings, I adapted and used precast concrete post blocks instead. A few tweaks, knee bracing and lattice panels are left—then it’ll all be tied into the new deck framing and ready for decking!

The prep work isn’t always the exciting part, but it’s what makes a project go smoothly.

After work today I got a head start on supporting this pergola before replacing all five posts. There are still adjustments and additional bracing to be added before the old posts come out and again before the new footings are left to cure.

Looking forward to bringing this one back to life. Stay tuned. Friday is dig day!

It’s the little details that make the biggest difference. From precision cuts behind the vanity to the finishing touches, here’s a look at how this custom beadboard feature wall came together.

Every room deserves a little character.

Wrapped up this board & trim installation in a bathroom today. The homeowner is taking care of the painting, so this is the project before the final finish.

One detail I’m especially happy with is the custom chair rail. The homeowners had an idea for the trim, and after talking through a few options, they decided to go with the profile I built from individual trim pieces. Paired with their decision to run the beadboard vertically, it gives the space a timeless feel while helping this small half bathroom feel taller and more spacious.

Looking forward to seeing it once the homeowner puts their finishing touch on it with paint.

Some projects deserve more than a replacement—they deserve a second life.

This siding has been protecting this home since the 1940s. While replacing it would have been the easier option, I wanted to restore what could still be saved and preserve a piece of its history.

From washing, cleaning, scraping, spot priming, setting up scaffolding, and finally laying on fresh paint, I genuinely enjoyed every stage of this project. It’s rewarding watching decades of wear disappear one step at a time.

One section was even hand-brushed from top to bottom—the old-school way. It took longer, but it ensured a consistent finish in the conditions and gave me an even greater appreciation for the painters who did this every day before rollers and sprayers became the norm.

There’s something special about restoration. You aren’t just changing how a home looks—you’re helping it last for many more years.

Built to age beautifully.
