Well Drawdown Test What it measures: How much the water level drops in the well while it is being pumped, and how quickly it recovers once the pump stops.How it's done: Technicians measure the static water level before the test. During pumping, they record how far down the water level drops (drawdown). After pumping stops, they measure how long it takes for the water to return to its original static level.Why it matters: It calculates the well's "specific capacity" and tells you whether the well recharges fast enough to prevent running dry during heavy use.

Well Flow Test (Yield Test) What it measures: The volume of water (in Gallons Per Minute or Litres Per Minute) the well can consistently produce over a set period (usually 1 to 4 hours).How it's done: A technician pumps water continuously while taking flow rate readings at regular intervals (e.g., every 15 minutes).Acceptable rates: For a standard residential home, 5 GPM or more is generally considered acceptable. Less than 3 GPM usually requires a holding/storage tank system.
