Thinking of visiting mom or dad? Wouldn’t hurt to check their smoke and carbonmonoxide alarm dates of expiry and batteries. They could also use your help with reducing un valued storage.
Independence doesn’t get easier with age. It just takes you to make to first step. Because you know they will seldom ask because they feel you are always busy.
Just think about it.

Recently helped our young mom agents Vanessa & Kelly at Burlingtons own Ireland House Museum Apple Fest. I learned a lot from our young population of Halton.
Most of the kids I questioned recently had a fire drill in their local school. Which is great! When I asked when have they ever practiced a fire drill at their own homes? 95% of their replies were never! So if we can all agree faulty or expired smoke and carbon alarms cannot save lives? Then let’s support our kids and grandchildren with practicing fire drills in homes, and help remind our seniors and grandparents to inspect their alarms so there current. And why not encourage a fire drill at the grandparents house. Make it fun and save a life!

We spoke about our Transition Network and how we help caregivers and seniors in the community downsize and transition into the next stage of their life. Our fellow resident, Mr. McMullen celebrated his 64th Wedding Anniversary this past weekend. We captured this special moment as he and his wife exchanged memories and jokes over their 6 decades together.

Our priority is the safety and well-being of our residents. We made sure that Mr. McMullen had the opportunity to safely visit with his wife in the comfort of our library. Our recreation staff were happy to assist in setting up their virtual date!

At LaSalle, we love - and we hope to inspire other communities to do the same! We are now nominating our sister property Pearl & Pine to share how they make the ordinary into extraordinary!
