What’s happening in our local real estate market? 👀🏡

July’s numbers are in for Hamilton-Burlington-Haldimand-Niagara North: 798 homes sold (-11.0%), the average sale price was $809,872 (-4.2%), and new listings were down 17.6% year-over-year.

Homes spent an average of 41 days on the market, up 7.9%.

In the News: This morning, the Bank of Canada announced it would maintain the policy rate at 2.25%. The Bank stated that “Canada’s economy is showing signs of improvement. Growth is picking up, and inflation is projected to ease gradually from its recent spike. There are still important risks and uncertainties related to the war in the Middle East and US trade policy.”

The The Canadian Real Estate Association/L'Association canadienne de l'immeuble also released a revised resale housing market forecast today, which noted that “rate hikes by the Bank of Canada this year have also now been mostly taken off the table, which should hearten both fixed- and variable-rate borrowers.”

CREA is also anticipating a more active second half of 2026 and higher activity levels for next year.
