This year I feel like there’s a whole new market that I’m calling ‘Magnolia to Sunflowers’ . The year did not start off as expected & continues to provide interesting data and teachable moments. From the ‘magnolia’ AI data from our top website searches it’s clear that we look for pools then cottages in May and June. Makes sense. July and August of this year we’re seeing the most balanced week /period according to our Appointment Centre data looking at Appointments to Sold. Buyers are looking now and they are buying. And then there’s the elephant in the room. Pricing. Seeing a lot of over 90day listings? Seeing a lot of cancellations. In one week alone in July, Peel Region reported over 400 cancelled listings. Price matters. Still more summer to enjoy! Sunny days, warm nights! Cheers!

Victoria Day long weekend launches summer thoughts and mindset. Have you thought of cottage country? The Remax Canadian Cottage report is out and some interesting trends to note. Factor in the political climate and this might be the time to look more closely at your cottage dream plan. The Léger Report indicates that nearly half of Canadians unlikely to visit the US this year citing feeling unsafe and unwelcome. With Canadians being the US top foreign buyers accounting for $6 billion in real estate in ‘23 and ‘24 it is safe to assume that Canadians selling their US properties will reinvest in Canadian recreational properties. Trends also predict Boomer transfer of wealth and families will drive the recreational market. Enjoy your weekend wherever you might be spending it!
