My kids have always loved taking the GO train into Union Station, followed by the walk down to the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal and then the ferry ride across to the island. 🚆⛴️
And once you get there, Centreville is just one part of the day - if you want it to be.
🌿 Centre Island itself is beautiful and very family-friendly, with lots of green space, gardens, fountains and paths to wander. You can easily make a full day of it without even going on the rides.

The rides are geared more toward younger kids, in my opinion, roughly toddlers through 8–10ish, depending on the child.
You can choose between individual ride tickets or an all-day option, so take a look at the rides and ticket requirements before deciding what makes sense for your family.

• Picnic areas and lots of green space
• Walking and exploring the island

💧 TIP: There’s a water bottle refill station right across from the splash in the rides area, on the blue building.
🍎 Food: There are food stands on the island, but we usually bring our own snacks, drinks and a picnic. There are so many nice places to spread out and eat, and packing your own food can make the day a whole lot easier (and less expensive).
👌 For August 2026: children, youth and seniors are currently travelling free on the Toronto Island ferry, but you still need to get a ticket.
