I am an entrepreneur, investor, and creative problem solver, shaped by eighteen years of experience in the fields of construction & real estate. My hands-on approach has contributed to my ability to see real estate differently; specifically in identifying opportunities where others see liability. I am drawn to projects that challenge myself and my team to create value for our community and partner

I began my construction career at the age of sixteen and worked my way up from being a labourer, to owning a prosperous group of companies that include Astra Construction Management, Astra Real Estate, and the Astra Business Centre. Through Astra Construction, and over the span of ten years, I have overseen thousands of projects across the multifamily, commercial and industrial sectors for various private, public and government organizations. Some of these organizations include: Avenue Living, Defence Construction Canada, Alberta Seniors & Community Housing, Métis Housing, Manulife and many more. In 2018, I founded Astra Real Estate with the purpose of being able to pursue properties that many choose to avoid. With this strategy, and over the short span of 4 years, I have successfully led the construction and real estate divisions of Astra Group in the acquisition and repositioning of 40,000 ft² of industrial space, eight multifamily buildings, and over 45,000 ft² of mixed-use commercial space. Amongst these properties, I established the Astra Business Centre, an 18,500 ft² coworking space consisting of over 70 offices that has become a cornerstone of the Beltline community. Most Recently, Astra Real Estate acquired a 129,000 ft² office tower in Downtown Calgary. In 2021, I co-founded Peoplefirst Developments, a company that aims to improve lives through socially responsible development. My team and I work closely with nonprofit organizations to address issues that our society faces in relation to attainable housing. My goals are shaped around a desire to utilize my talents, resources and teams to positively impact our communities and the people within them, while providing positive returns to our partners.

We would like to announce that the contest has officially ended. The community has spoken, and "The Cornerstone" has been selected as the new name of our building at 909 5th Ave SW.

Against all odds, two separate entries were submitted for the same name, and we have decided to award each of the participants with the full prize.

Yesterday, Mayor Jyoti Gondek and the City of Calgary announced that People First Developments has been selected as one of three participants of the Downtown Calgary Development Incentive Program; an initiative aimed at revitalizing Downtown Calgary through office-to-residential conversion.

As Managing Director of Peoplefirst Developments, I had the pleasure of announcing the details of our project at 909 5th Ave SW - including the fact that we will bring forward 112 attainable residential units, while removing 104,000 ft² of vacant office space from the market. This incentive program will invest $7.8 Million in the form of a grant towards our project.

I would like to thank the City of Calgary and the entire team behind the Downtown Calgary Development Incentive Program; they have made it possible for us to take on this project, and work towards bringing life back to our city's core. I would also like to congratulate Rob Blackwell of Aspen Properties, and Sarah Itani of Cidex for their successful announcements today. By working together towards this great initiative, we will bring people and vitality back to the centre of our great city.

Astra began as a construction company before we moved into the real estate industry; we still proudly serve various private and government organizations.

The project below is perfect example of our construction team completing a full range of services in the restoration and rebuild of our valuable client's property.

ASTRA CONSTRUCTION // A showcase of another successfully completed project by our Astra Construction team for our valuable client. We provided turnkey construction management services in restoring their property after a burst pipe flooded the entire main floor of their residential complex.

Our services included asbestos abatement and a full rebuild across more than 38,000 ft². We were able to complete the project in under four months, just in time for the rental season to pick up.

In March 2020 we took a property in the most undesirable asset class and turned it into a centre of productivity and growth.

I'm proud of our acquisition of this building, of our team and of everyone else involved who helped make it happen. We're taking steps towards the revitalization of Downtown Calgary - starting with this building which has sat vacant for 9 years.

ASTRA REAL ESTATE // We’re proud to announce our largest acquisition yet. This 10-storey, 129,000 ft² building at 909 5th Avenue SW in Calgary, Alberta has main floor retail, an underground parkade, and a street-level parking lot. Floors two through ten are currently designated towards office space. We have big plans for this building - stay tuned to learn more.
