There’s a lot more to building an infill than meets the eye! 🏡

From the first design conversations to permits, construction and the final finishing touches, bringing a new home to life is a process that takes time, planning and expertise.

While 10 to 24 months is a general estimate, every project is different. Design complexity, approvals, site conditions and construction schedules can all influence the timeline.

Thoughtful redevelopment is about more than building new homes. It’s about making meaningful use of existing neighbourhood spaces and contributing to Calgary’s future. 💙

Thanksgiving feels a little different when you work in an industry built around creating places for people to call home. 🍂

We are especially grateful for the builders, designers, trades, partners and community members who continue to shape Calgary with their ideas, craftsmanship and commitment to doing great work.

An infill is more than a new home on an old lot. It is part of how established neighbourhoods continue to evolve.

Thoughtful redevelopment can introduce new housing options while making use of the streets, parks, transit and services already woven into a community. It also creates opportunities for local builders, trades, designers and suppliers to contribute directly to the neighbourhoods they know.

For Calgary’s inner city, the conversation around infill is ultimately about what comes next and how we build it well.

The best decisions on a build rarely happen in isolation.

They happen around tables like this one. Plans open. Questions asked. Details challenged. Builders, designers, trades and consultants bringing different expertise to the same project before those decisions become much harder to change on site.

That exchange of knowledge is a big part of what CICBA is about.

Bringing Calgary’s inner city building community together, creating opportunities to learn from one another and strengthening the conversations that ultimately shape better projects.

Because a good set of plans matters. So do the people around them.

Calgary builds are warming up this fall, and we’re not just talking about the weather.

Across the city, we’re seeing a shift toward homes that feel more grounded, tactile and intentional. Warmer material palettes are replacing cooler finishes, texture is taking centre stage, and outdoor spaces are being designed as a true extension of the home rather than an afterthought.

These may feel like subtle details, but together they’re changing the way new homes look, feel and function.

For Calgary’s building community, it’s an interesting evolution to watch and an even better one to build.

Meet our final speaker, Amanda Hamilton, Founder and Creative Director of Amanda Hamilton Interior Design.

Amanda has built one of Calgary’s most recognizable design careers, with work spanning custom homes, multifamily developments, hospitality, retail and commercial spaces across Canada.

For Calgary’s building community, her perspective is an important one. Because great development is about more than what we build. It is about how people experience the spaces we create, how design adds value, and how bold ideas become places that leave a mark on a city.

With more than 50 years in construction, Mogens has built companies, challenged conventional building methods and helped push Calgary born construction technology onto a global stage.
