❄️ HOMEOWNER REMINDER: Disconnect those hoses before winter! ❄️

It seems like such a small thing… but forgetting to disconnect and drain your exterior hose bibs can turn into a very expensive problem once Calgary temperatures drop. 🥶

When a hose stays connected, water can remain trapped inside the hose bib and plumbing line. Once that water freezes, it expands which can potentially cause the pipe or fixture to crack.

And the scary part? You may not even realize there’s damage until things thaw out and you suddenly have water leaking inside your home. 😬💦

I know we still have nice fall weather but before the freezing temperatures really settle in:

🏡 Disconnect all garden hoses
💧 Drain any remaining water from the hose bib
🔧 Shut off the interior water supply to the exterior tap, if your home has one
🚰 Open the exterior tap after shutting the water off to allow remaining water to drain
🧊 Store your hoses somewhere protected for the winter

A few minutes of fall maintenance can potentially save you from a major headache and a very unwanted repair bill.. later.
