What does it mean to be a girl? We asked some of the incredible women at YWCA Calgary, and the answers took us in all kinds of directions, in English and Spanish.

For some it’s strength and resilience without giving up empathy, and being part of a sisterhood that cheers each other on. For others it’s the freedom to dream, the courage to speak up, and the confidence to become whoever you want to be.

Girls are powerful, brilliant, and full of potential. On International Day of the Girl, we celebrate their voices and their futures.

At YWCA Calgary, we’re proud to support programs that build confidence, resilience and leadership among girls in our community. When we invest in girls, we invest in change.

Today is World Mental Health Day, a reminder that taking care of our mental wellbeing is an important part of everyday health.

Stress, change and life's challenges can affect all of us. Taking time to check in with yourself and the people around you can make a meaningful difference.

At YWCA Calgary, our counselling programs are designed to support mental wellness, healthy relationships and personal growth. Whether you're navigating a challenge, building new coping strategies or simply looking for support, counselling can be a valuable resource. Fees are offered on a sliding scale based on financial circumstances to help make services more accessible.

Shelters are often the first step toward safety, healing, and hope for women and children escaping violence.

As part of the Women's Shelters Canada network, we're working alongside shelters across the country to advance safety, equity, and brighter futures for women and their families.

We're deeply grateful for the support of the Shoppers Foundation for Women's Health and its Giving Shelter program, which helps raise critical funds and awareness for women's shelters and support services across Canada.
