Sumer Singh is a modern-day polymath: a registered architect, a registered professional engineer, a fabricator and a public artist. He drew this house, engineered it, and built it. the same hand from the exterior envelope down to the interior door hardware.

His work is shown around the world. Three of his J***r benches were acquired by the Bob Dylan Museum, and he was recently selected as lead artist for Calgary’s new LRT station.

A house showing isn’t just a tour. We treat it as a design exercise, bringing the same thinking we apply when designing a house for a client to the question of whether a house is worth buying. What is it right now, what could it become with the right renovation, and how well could it actually serve the family we’re working with.

For this one in Upper Elbow Park, that meant working in an in-law suite, a reconfigured primary bedroom for two people on different schedules, and a main floor that could open up to a better connection with the backyard. In the end, it wasn’t the right fit. But we were able to test it, be sure about it, and move on with clarity.

This is a service for people who understand that a house isn’t just a purchase. It’s the thing that shapes how you live.
