From a young age, I was set in my ways, rigid with my life and the way I handled it.

I had goals and ideas for how my life was supposed to be.

It was my job to follow that blueprint carefully and strictly.

I’ve slowly realized over the years that I WAS WRONG.

Not all of it, but most of it.

I’d tell myself that being rigid and unforgiving in your life path gets you to a lot of places, but you miss out so much more!

I’ve since learned to be more like water and embrace the detour.
I’ve learned to relax, pace myself and enjoy the journey.

It opened so many more doors for experiences that I never would have had on my “rigid” path.

I’ve done things that were never close to what I thought I would encounter.

I’ve had experiences that taught me so much more than my original path would have.

But the best part?

I’ve learned that you can work diligently on a path, keep your mind open to other things, and do things for no other reason than because you wanted to.

My life has become so much more enriched, exciting and peaceful!

My only regret is not learning the lesson sooner.

I’d tell myself to have goals and work towards them, but live life while you get there!

There’s a popular belief that you need to wait until your home is ready to list your home before you call a realtor but this couldn’t be further from the truth!

The time to call is when you’ve first made the decision to sell your home, even if that’s a yar or 6 months away.

Getting your home ready is a lot! Kids undoing what you’ve done makes things a little bit (or a lot!) slower as well. Calling the right Realtor is like calling in reinforcements. It makes things so much easier.

Maybe it makes more sense to have a handyman fix all the little items that need attention or have a cleaner come in and deep clean the house.

The Home Journeys Process starts at the moment you make the decision to sell and stands by your side to the end and beyond.

It helps you to figure out what needs to be done and finds the easiest way to get you there. Busy parents deserve and NEED that.

You’re not alone. It’s all about you and your family, not just the transaction.

Taking the stress off you so that you can attend to the things that are important is what the Home Journeys Process is about.

Hobbies are things that we do because we enjoy them. They fill our lives with some “extra” enjoyment.

We do them because we want to not because we have to.

They relax us, we can escape the world for a little while.

I’ve had lots of hobbies over my lifetime, and they come and go as I evolve on my own personal journey.

Embroidery, knitting, doll house building, writing…

But there’s one hobby that’s part of me as a person. It’s entangled in my personality, and it makes me feel so alive!

Random acts of an unplanned nature – AKA being spontaneous!

In the middle of cleaning the house and suddenly decide to go camping – packed and on the road within an hour!

Coffee in Banff!

Random drives with no destination in mind belting out the tunes as loud as you can!

Dancing in the aisles at the grocery store!

Adulting comes with A LOT of responsibility and sometimes you just have to let go of the reins and be free!

I haven’t been spontaneous in a while – but that’s about to change!

This time of year, most agents are posting their sales numbers.

Homes sold. Volume closed. Awards. Rankings.

Truthfully, those always feel like a huge end of the year brag to me.

I wanted to do something different.
The numbers that shaped my 2025 had nothing to do with real estate.

Here are a few of the things that actually mattered this year:

• 760 Cups of Coffee. Nothing begins without coffee so why should this list be any different? Ha ha!

• 3 Foster pups added to the extended animal family. I didn’t foster any animals this year, but my daughter did…and I love them just like they were mine!

• 1 Vacation. It’s not a vacation to me unless it’s somewhere hot, hot, hot!...this year it was Cancun.

• 1 Bucket List item. I traveled out to Nanaimo to see the whales. Lots of humpbacks and a couple of orcas…it was amazing!

• 365 times out of my comfort zone. I made it a point this year to do something every day that placed me outside of my comfort zone. Some days it was a small thing, others were huge but I grew so much this year!

• 730 Crime show watched. What’s life if you’re not falling asleep watching the horrors that some humans do to others? I don’t know why this interests me, but I know I’m not alone in it ha ha!

• 97 Classes attended. Some were business and some personally related. I love learning and these classes are an investment in both my business and myself.

These are the numbers that actually tell the story of my year.
The habits. The choices. The tiny things that add up to a life.

What about you? Drop one of your 2025 numbers below…
Not the money ones. The meaningful ones. 💛

If you spend enough time with me, I'll brainwash you into thinking touring houses is a legitimate form of cardio!

Walking through the main floor, up the stairs to the bedrooms, touring the upper level, back down, and then to the basement.

How many steps was that? Wait! Let's check the upstairs again.

It's a workout! And after a few of them, you need some time to cool it down.

Trust me.....

The worst client I’ve ever worked with?
Easily the most chaotic experience of my career.
No contest.

They:
• Changed their mind about the non-negotiables every other day
• Sent me way too many late-night screenshots of homes they wanted to see
• Got overwhelmed by trying to fit what they wanted into the budget they had
• Panicked over timelines even though it wasn’t a real issue
• Ignored understanding the inspection report even though it actually mattered
• Wanted everything done on an impossible timeline of a week
• Asked for constant reassurance about whether a property was the right choice

There were moments when I genuinely questioned whether I could keep working with them. 😅

And then it hit me…
The worst client I’ve ever worked with was actually…
me.
This was during my own last move and wow did it humble me.

Moving brings out every emotion.
Even people who “know what they’re doing” can spiral when it’s their money, their memories, and their next chapter on the line.

It’s why I lead with empathy.
It’s why I build structure into the process.
And it’s why your stress never scares me…I’ve lived it.

Here's my absolutely not list for 2026. Do you have a list?

I love this photo because of what it stands for.

In Puerto Vallarta, we decided to do a snorkeling excursion with a stop at the Hidden Beach.

At the snorkeling destination, the crew informed us that we needed to jump into the ocean and swim to the reef at the edge of the island.

But I have a very unhealthy fear of sharks! And the water was dark and murky.

It was shark territory for sure!

I’ve watched enough shark shows to know that we were in waters where the largest Great Whites were known to be.

I did it! I jumped in, swam for my life and did the snorkel. (kind of) It was actually pretty cool!

Of course we had to swim again to the hidden beach.

Unfortunately, my shark fear had taken hold, and I wasn’t able to overcome it and go. I stayed on the boat and watched as my kids swam to the shore.

They said it was amazing! I wish I had seen it!

But you know what? Sometimes you’ve got to conquer fears one at a time.

And sometimes you just need to know when to stay in the boat and let it go.

I’m okay with that. I’ll keep my ocean swimming activities on the Caribbean side where at least I feel safer because I can see in the water.

The pre-approval of your mortgage is the most important part of purchasing a home.

It gives you direction, and it gives you buying power.

The lenders will take more than just your income into consideration when determining how much mortgage you can be approved for. It’s not as easy as just pumping your numbers into a mortgage calculator and running off that.

A pre-approval also gives you buying power!

You know exactly how much of a budget you are working with and it gives the seller a sense of security that your financing will go through if you make an offer on a home.

It really doesn’t make sense to look at homes before you’ve gotten your pre-approval taken care of first.

Sometimes the journey is more important than the destination.

This is so true when it comes to clutter in my home. It seems like a never-ending journey.

But every day I learn more about changing the way I do things and the way that I think about things and that’s all that matters.

Moving forward is the key, even if you'll never get to the destination. It’s all about the journey and what we take from it.
