Gutted is an understatement. Calgary’s food scene just lost an absolute gem.
If you know me, you know I live and breathe this city, especially the food scene on 17th Ave. As soon as Ramen Taka announced they were closing their doors on May 24th, I dropped everything to pay my respects to the best Asahikawa-style ramen in Calgary.
For nearly five years, this spot right across from Tomkins Park was my go-to when I needed a massive bowl of comfort food. Fun fact that most people actually don't know: their signature broth is a traditional, complex blend of pork bones, seafood, and vegetables simmered for hours to achieve that deep Hokkaido umami flavour. No shortcut powders here. I spent my final lunch there treating myself to the legendary Black Garlic Tonkotsu and a side of my guilty pleasures Hokkaido Croquettes.
The Beltline market is changing so fast right now. Independent spots like this are the true heartbeat of our neighbourhoods. Knowing the exact pulse of a community, from the best real estate values down to the literal street corner with the best noodle pull, is exactly what I bring to the table for my clients.
Where you live isn't just about square footage or bedroom counts. It’s about your morning coffee walks, your date-night spots, and the community you build around it.
If you are thinking about buying or selling in a vibrant Calgary community where your lifestyle matches your front door, let’s grab a bite. I know a few secret backup ramen spots we can try while we chat about your next move.
