Braeside Community Association Braeside Community Association is the heart of a diverse and thriving SW community. Welcome to the BCA page! This includes political ads.

This is a space for connection, updates, and positive interactions among community members. Braeside Community Association is a registered not-for-profit society that is also home to the Braeside Before and After School Care. BCA offers a wide variety of special events and programs, a book nook, ice rinks, a community garden, and basketball courts for the enjoyment of area residents, as well as being a place where individuals and community groups can connect and host events and programs. To keep this page safe and welcoming, we ask all participants to follow these simple guidelines:

1. Kindness and Respect
• Treat everyone with kindness and understanding, even when opinions differ.
• Disagreements are welcome but must be expressed respectfully and constructively.

2. Zero Tolerance for Harassment
• Harassment, bullying, or personal attacks of any kind are strictly prohibited.
• This includes offensive comments related to race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other personal characteristics.

3. No Personal Attacks
• Criticism of ideas or policies is welcome, but targeting individuals or groups with personal insults, threats, or derogatory language is not permitted.

4. Relevant and Constructive Posts
• Posts and comments should remain relevant to community-related topics.
• Avoid spamming, trolling, or derailing discussions with unrelated or inflammatory content. Reporting Issues
• If you witness or experience behavior that violates this policy, please report it to the page administrators immediately.

6. Enforcement
• Posts or comments that violate these guidelines will be removed.
• Members who repeatedly violate the policy may be muted, temporarily banned, or permanently removed from the group, at the discretion of the administrators.

7. Administrator Rights
• Administrators reserve the right to moderate content and enforce this policy as needed to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.

Looking to brush up on your painting skills AND get into the Halloween spirit? 🖌👻


Mum and Me Paint Parties is hosting Brushstrokes for Braeside Youth on October 18 at 2pm.
Grab a friend, bring the family, or come on your own for a fun afternoon of painting while helping support Braeside Youth Programming! 💜🧡

You'll be painting adorable Halloween gnomes while getting to connect with others! Everyone is welcome! (even if you’ve never picked up a paintbrush before).

We're hosting a Seniors' Social Hour on Tuesday, October 13 from 10:30-11:30 at the community centre. Enjoy some light refreshments and a little socialization!

Active Aging Week (October 5-11) is an annual weeklong campaign in Calgary designed to celebrate the positive aspects of aging and promote the benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle, regardless of age or health status. Timed to come just after the International Day of Older Persons (October 1), this week is a great reminder to encourage seniors to be active in a way that makes sense for them and celebrate the capabilities of older adults who exemplify active aging. Being active is a great way to stay healthy, meet new people and spend time with friends!

You're invited to the Braeside Halloween Movie Night on Friday October 23! Put on your scariest, sparkliest, most bootiful or funniest costume and head on down to the Braeside Community Association for an evening of fun, prizes, food...and of course, a movie!

Help Braeside GROW!

We're looking for volunteers on October 24 for the next part of our Garden Box Project!

We will be holding a garden box building bee 🪲🛠in the Braeside community garden and we need your help to make it happen. This will help complete our 2026 project, creating more garden boxes for Braeside residents to grow their own vegetables. The ground will be prepared, the wood will be cut, the soil pile will be ready. All we need is some DIY builders to help put the boxes together and load in the dirt. Bring an impact drill/wrench, a round nosed shovel and a wheelbarrow if you have them and if you don’t - no worries! We will find extras!

Good Morning Braeside, We want to thank you all so much for your support buying tickets for our 50/50 raffle and Chinook Musical Society providing the artists for our concert in the park. All in we raised $3,000 to help purchase supplies to expand our eco-sanctuary. Also, we want to thank Safeway in Woodbine, Shoppers Drug Mart on Southland and Kevin's No Frills that donated items for the concert.

We are planning a community sod busting event for Saturday September 26 to remove the sod for the 8 new garden boxes. We are looking for 30 community volunteers to help cut the sod, all ages welcome. A sod tossing competition will ensue. Weather permitting, we are hoping to get a few jobs finished for the next growing season. If you can help out please email [email protected]
