Leanne Lightfoot carries her songs on raw, honest vocals that trace the quiet beauty of joy and sorrow, shaped by life’s hard-earned lessons. Writing of love and longing, the pull of the land, and the unseen threads that bind us, she invites listeners into intimate song-stories drawn from lived experience and borrowed lives alike. Woven with gentle humour and warm backstory, her performances offer rich emotional texture—where past and present blur, and where heartache and hope linger long after the music falls still.

Did you know?

It’s National Paperback Book Day! 📚
Celebrated annually on July 30 across North America, it commemorates the anniversary of the first mass-market paperbacks published in 1935 (by Penguin), which revolutionized the publishing industry by making literature significantly more affordable and portable (therefore more accessible!)

Here is how you can celebrate locally in Calgary:
• Check out the Braeside Book Nook at the BCA (Summer Book Nook hours:
Tues/Thurs 9am-2pm, Wed 5pm-6pm)
• Visit a few Little Free Libraries: Look for neighbourhood Little Free Libraries to drop off a softcover you've finished and pick up a new one for free. Braeside has at least 3 LFLs, on Bracewood Rd, Bralorne Cres, and Brookgreen Dr.
• Support local libraries: Visit your nearest Calgary Public Library location to borrow a paperback and enjoy your next great read! (Did you know a library membership is FREE?)

"Books are a uniquely portable magic." – Stephen King

It's National Ice Cream Day!

Celebrated on the third Sunday every July, it is the perfect time to enjoy this cool, sweet treat.

In Braeside we have at least 2 options right in the neighbourhood if you are looking to go out for ice cream vs enjoying a cone or bowl at home (no shame in that either!)

Pick up a yummy D'served gourmet ice cream sandwich at STREATS. Or enjoy your favourite Blizzard, sundae or cone at Dairy Queen!

What is your go to ice cream option?

Whatever your favourite cool treat is, we hope you take the time to indulge today. After all, a day without ice cream is practically un-cone-stitutional. 🍦
