I’m grateful to be involved in something that brings people together in such a meaningful way.

Side by Side for ALS is a province-wide walk and fun run series supporting people living with and affected by ALS across Alberta. It brings communities together to walk, run, roll, fundraise, volunteer, and show families that they are not alone.

To me, that’s what makes it so special.

It’s rooted in connection, support, and showing up for people through something incredibly hard.

One of my favourite things about Calgary is that there isn't one "best" neighbourhood.

The best community is the one that fits your life.

For me, these six stand out for different reasons:

📍 West Hillhurst — endless character, Kensington, the river, what else could you need?

📍 Sunalta — one of my favourite places to live in my early twenties. Walkable, connected, and still one of the more affordable inner-city options.

📍 Glamorgan — mature trees, big lots, great schools, and arguably one of Calgary's most important landmarks: Glamorgan Bakery.

📍 Belmont — incredible value, beautiful Foothills views, and so much exciting growth happening in the area.

📍 Woodbine — Fish Creek Park, character homes, and some of my favourite local spots in the city.

📍 Sundance — my childhood community and still one of Calgary's best family-friendly neighbourhoods, complete with lake access and direct access to Fish Creek.

Pride is celebration, but it’s also a reminder of why visibility, safety, and belonging matter so much. Everyone deserves to feel seen. Everyone deserves to feel safe. Everyone deserves to be celebrated, not just during Pride Month, but always.

Whether you’re celebrating loudly, quietly, publicly, privately, or still figuring out what that looks like for you, I hope this month reminds you that all of you is welcome.

What I love about this event is that it’s bigger than one city.

Side by Side for ALS brings communities across Alberta together to walk, run, roll, fundraise, volunteer, and support people living with and affected by ALS.
