RESCHEDULED DATES BELOW ...

Details for the 3rd Annual Chaparral Estates BBQ Party are:

Date: Saturday July 23, 2016
Time: 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Burgers and fixings will be provide compliments of Andrew, our Property Manager at Prairie Realty & Management.

The Bouncey House will be set up from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the roadway beside Unit 70. The petting zoo is provided by Butterfield Acres and will be set up from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. behind units 64, 66 and 68.

PLEASE NOTE that driving on the roadway in the back of the complex will be impacted. All efforts have been made to not impact parking on driveways.

All residents and owners are invited as well as any grandchildren of residents and owners. We hope to see many, many faces at the BBQ.

Please be sure to bring your own chair and beverages.

The Chaparral Youth Committee will be fundraising at this event. The charity our youth has decided to support is the Calgary Food Bank. Non-perishable food items and cash donations will be collected by our youth representatives.

SCAMMERS IN THE COMMUNITY

An email was sent out to everyone notifying them of a scam that made it's way to Chaparral Estates. They were claiming to be building and/or furnace inspectors that implied they were sent by the City of Calgary or by Chaparral Estates. Once they aggressively made their way inside your home they would pressure sell you into unneeded furnace or building repairs. Thankfully, to our knowledge, no Chaparral Estates resident was duped.

We have the luxury of living right next door to Fish Creek Provincial Park. Many of our residents enjoy sharing their pictures of the many visitors we have in our complex, Fish Creek and Calgary.

Winter in Calgary

As usual the weather is expected to go up - then down - then up - then down. With the temperature swing brings us ice on our walkways and road. Please be careful!

If you spot any ice please report it to [email protected] so we can have it addressed ASAP.

AGM TOPICS

Please be sure to mark your calendars for the AGM on March 15, 2016. Some topics that will be discussed are:

Security Gate: With all the prowlings and vandalism that has occurred over the past year, this topic is gaining supporters. Information about what a security gate would look like will be released over the next month so everyone has an opportunity to consider concrete ideas rather than a conceptual one.

Dedicated Child Play Area: Did you know that about 25% of ownership in this community are families? Realistically this number is due to increase. The children in this community deserve a dedicated play area where they can play without being yelled at. Whether this area will be located in the middle gardens or along the perimeter of the complex will be discussed at the AGM.

Other Large Projects: The Board will reach out to the community to gauge interest in other projects that are of concern to the ownership.

Please plan to attend the AGM. Your involvement will only make the community better.

Garage Doors

Last summer we had all of the garage doors and trim painted, Many of you have noticed that the doors and trim are starting to yellow. The paint manufacturer has investigated and agreed there was a defect in the paint and will repaint all of our doors and trim at no cost to us.

Details on when this will happen will be released here.

The 2015 Condo of the Year Award goes to ...

Not us :(. That's ok. Congratulations to the winners which will be announced on the South Alberta CCI website shortly.
