Rest in peace my friend! 😢 I used to hike a lot, but I never really told anyone why I stopped so suddenly.

After the recent passing of my friend, I felt it was time to share the reason.

A few years ago, I lost my footing (while descending) on a mountain and fell, tumbling down the slope several times before managing to grab onto a small tree that stopped me from going any farther. It was a terrifying experience. Despite escaping with only minor injuries, the mountains have never felt the same to me.

Now, with the loss of my friend, who passed while doing what she loved most, the mountains hit even closer to home. While I find some comfort knowing she was doing something she was passionate about, I don’t know if I’ll ever find the courage to return to the mountains myself.

Some experiences leave marks that never fully fade. You will be forever be in my heart. RIP Katie. 😢
